Gnomeaggedon happened to
post something so interesting the other day that I thought it merited a bit more discussion. He actually posted it almost as an afterthought (I guess he's moving in RL -- good luck with that), but it's quite an idea just the same: "Make it all BoA," he says. Blizzard has added in some
more Bind-on-Account items, and most recently made it possible for
BoA items to go across factions. But Gnomeaggedon says it's time to stop messing around: mounts, emblems, tier and arena gear, currencies, vanity pets, reputation items, anything that would be useful across toons should be able to be traded freely between them. Why, he asks, should there be limits on which character you decide to play with?
And actually, while the possibilities there might make some players' heads spin (imagine how many badges you could earn on your geared-out pally for your newly 80 warlock), I think that Blizzard is probably headed that direction. They may not want to open the floodgates completely, but look at where we've come -- we just heard Frank Pearce say the other day that
faction changes are a direct result of Blizzard wanting to give players more choice of who to play with, so wouldn't it follow that we'd eventually get more choice about which characters we use? You have to think that we'll see more and more BoA items, so why not just skip to step ten and open it all up? What do you think?

I've been arguing for something like this for awhile...
In my "perfect world," all Rep items would be BoA, thus removing the Rep grinds. This wouldn't "overpower" new characters, as these rewards are "entry level" epics...
The other thing I'd like to see is a three tier Emblem system:
Tier 1 (Top Tier) would drop from top level content (think Frost);
Tier 2 would drop from Heroics/Old Raids (think Triumph); and
Tier 3 would be any older Emblems (they no longer drop), and all old Emblems would automatically convert to Tier 3.
Any Emblem could be downgraded to the level below (as we can do now).
Tiers 1 & 2 would be BoP, but Tier 3 would be BoA.
This would allow you to outfit Alts well, but at least two Tiers below current content...
My two cents...

If someone already said this I'm sry, there are a LOT of pages here. They need to bring back attunement. Hardcore attunement. Make people show that they have learned the dungeons before going heroic. The way to do it? Make attunement BoA. Think about it, and how awesome it would be to know the people you're grouped with know the dungeon.

Personally, I'd like to have my Amani Warbear, on the toon I am playing now. If I had known I was wasting my time playing a class that would eventually become "UNFun" then I would have stopped. But now, everytime I log in and see my old character sitting there, knowing they have a bunch of Vanilla/BC achievements/items.. it bothers me cause I can't stand to log onto them anymore.

Mess with the GearScore junkies: snap up some invites on a class you've never played at end-game wearing BiS gear. When they ask you to explain your 2k dps say that you're sorry, but you can't switch between the pages of your spellbook that fast.

That's fine by me as long as they also make instance lockouts BoA too.
However, if they make all the badges and tokens and gear BoA and keep the lockouts toon-specific, they are going to piss off the majority of WoW players who only have time to develop one main level 80 toon. Think about it. This would give a majorly disproportionate advantage to people who can spend the time to visit the same raid 6 times per night with 6 different toons each of which sends all the gear and emblems to the one main toon. If I have to now maintain 6 level 80's in order to attain the same rate of raid progression I do with one level 80, I will stop playing the game entirely. It would be too much. I want to play the game and compete on skill. If people have to compete against those who get geared faster and better for no other reason than that they have much more time on their hands, then the game will ruin itself.
