I hated Ionar at first, but as soon as we realized it was easier to plan for and heal through the surges, it was easy. When our gear was barely at or below level, we needed at dps class that could through a group heal during the surge, but once our gear improved it was dandy. By healing through it we only ever saw two, and then eventually only one, surge, anyhow. It's the kind of mechanic that should NOT change, though. Each fight is a bit of a puzzle. You figure out the trick. If you don't figure out the trick, you struggle endlessly or look it up in some forum or tipster website.
I think Blizzard does give in to QQ too easily on the easier things. I can see nerfing old raids when they're no longer part of progression in order to beef up the numbers of people still going there.
