More options for party communication

Not only is it a bummer because some people used to use it constantly to keep party members in line, but this also means that there's one less means of communication between all of these random parties forming out there on the realms. Sure, in a perfect world, everyone would know the fights and chat would be enough to make sure everyone was on the same page (or depending of your vision of a perfect world, everyone actually uses the in-game voice chat -- a quick survey of our staff here presumes that it works in cross-realm PuGs, but given that I've never actually seen it used on the live realms by anyone, who knows?), but we're hardly running instances in a perfect world. Sometimes chat is not the best way to get a complicated boss fight organized and ready.
One idea that I've seen popping up on the realms is an addon that would copy a boss strategy for any given instance into party chat for you, just to avoid having to type out "stay out of the fire, run away when you get this debuff on you, etc." all the time. A search on Curse doesn't pull up too much in that vein -- there are certainly tactics addons that will help, but usually they're just warning addons (like DBM), or they require everyone to have the addon installed. There's nothing simple for just putting a strat into chat during a PuG.
Other than that, though, options are limited. You can still mark targets (and in fact, anyone can now mark targets in a party), and of course there are optional items -- flares and such -- used to show placement when needed. But what other options could there be? It seems a little lame for Blizzard to start building some strategies into the interface (though we do already get some automatic raid warnings on major events), but that's probably preferable to spending five minutes explaining the Devourer of Souls fight yet again.

I have used puggable.com on a few instances for voice chat. Seems pretty simple. I like it. You can even view everyone's rolls, assuming they set them. :-)

Boss Notes
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/boss-notes.aspx
Boss Notes is based on a modular design. The standard distribution contains the Personal Notes, Abilities and Tactics modules. Extension modules can provide additonal functionality.
Incredibly useful, and you can type in and save your own notes about each boss, but it comes preconfigured with notes on most bosses in end game instances. Not sure about ICC yet.

I noticed this change right after 3.3, and it's very annoying. I can understand that you wouldn't want to keep the old standard of letting anyone in a party use /rw, but the party leader should be able to do it. Now, I'm stuck with typing IN ALL CAPS OMG SERIOUS BUSINESS in party chat if I want to quickly convey something to a PUG mid-fight and hope to god that they're paying attention (and if they're doing something so stupid that I have to yell at them, they probably aren't watching anything other than their meters, anyway).

You might wanna check out boss notes (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/boss-notes.aspx). It has a nice short description for encounters to put into party chat.

we noticed last night while farming winter hats in regular nexus that the instance couldn't be reset, we had to drop group and reform up. That seems like a step backwards to me. Granted we were using the dungeon finder to port there, so maybe thats why.
I have to say, using the port feature of the dungeon finder was awesome, just as soon as we started, our guild decided to do a 25 man raid weekly quest (sarth), we just ported out did the 25 man with them and were able to port back to nexus to farm hats again. Saved us a lot of travel time. (flying from dal to nexus is what like 5-6 min?)
