The mania for speed speed speed is out of control.
Now all other aspects of the game are tossed aside for speed.
The other day I was healing in FoS, and when I saw the tank was chain pulling so fast we had no time to loot. I said to the group "Guys, we do have to loot for a chance at The Hilt"
Less than five seconds after I said that I was kicked from the group.

Oh my gosh... I know! I'm all for hurrying things along when it's prudent, but c'mon: Frozen Halls, chance a the Hilt? Stay awhile, enjoy it! Not like there are 40 bosses you have to get through or anything: take a couple extra trash pulls -- at worse, you'll get a few extra greys to vendor. At best, somebody in the group (well, not the tank) gets a new (and pretty decent if you don't raid hardcore) weapon that'll probably last them 'til the second coming of Deathwing.
I was in a random PuG for PoS the other day and literally, the healer said "I'm just here for emblems... let's hurry it up." One trash pull later by the tank, and the healer dropped group, followed quickly by everybody else bailing... I was completely floored.
This whole emblem-farming/speed running thing has gotten out of hand.

I ran into the same problem but they threatened me rather then strait out kicking ( I think it was cause I was heals) but low and behold when 'I' stopped to loot and the hilt dropped of course they all rolled need. Thank god the RNG gods were with me that day, got my hilt and left the speed runners to their own designs.

Yeah, it does seem to be getting a tad out of hand, especially considering we're normally talking about a difference of a whole 5-8 minutes in completing an instance between "pull, pound, pull" and "pull, pull, pull, obliterate."

I was in a group today for PoS with three people who were all about speed. The warrior and paladin DPS pulled about a dozen pulls between them, even after I told them my policy of "You spank it, you tank it." At one point I just dropped bear form and started DPSing in cat form in my tank gear, and they didn't take the hint. Even the healer moonfired a skeleton; I honestly felt like letting him die, but one of the DPS picked it up. The game would only let me put one of them on the ignore list; I hope I never have to run with any of them again.
What I don't get is where they get the idea that that pulling so many enemies makes the run any faster. Sure, pulling two crowds rather than one would increase your DPS if you use AoE, but these are single enemies we are talking about. Had we done one skeleton after the other, we could have focused our DPS on one, then the other, rather than on both at the same time, and I think it would have gone faster in the end.
I learned something on that run, though: if you picked that dungeon specifically to run, rather than getting it through the random heroic choice, clear all the trash first, before you do any bosses, then use that to gauge whether you want to run with the group at the speed they are going. If you don't, then drop the group. You won't have to worry about waiting for another one (since you won't have the debuff that prevents you from queuing again) and you won't be saved to the instance. I suppose this applies for any dungeon you choose to run specifically, except CoS, where the first pull saves to you it.

This sounds rather anal in the other direction of what you're criticizing.
This article isn't about speed runs, it's about scripted scenes that are non-skippable and become painfully redundant.
I've seen the lore scene for Culling about a dozen times already. I got it. I'd rather skip it. Until that feature exists, I'll just go continue to afk for the several minutes it takes and do something else. Though I'd rather be playing. ;)

Yes...pulling multiple mobs and aoeing IS FASTER...if it wasn't people wouldn't do it. What's even worse than a speed demon tank is a wimpy tank. Someone who ready checks before each pull, and seems too look at the next group of mobs almost with a hesitation, like he's thinking "those guys look pretty tough, I don't know if I can tank all em!" (say that in the voice of the cowardly lion, it makes it better) This guy can turn what should be a 15 minute pwnfest into an hour long trudge.
If the speed of the run isn't killing you, (and gives you just enough time to loot the bodies) then I'd say it's about right. It's a freaking Heroic Dungeon, not rocket surgery, a little haste doesn't hurt anyone. Heroics have become a monotonous task, and many have run the instance you're in many times before, they just want to get them done and leave as fast as possible.
