I started playing on a 56k modem back in December 2004. I live in a semi rural dead end where it was the only option beyond satellite.
I missed out on raiding for a year because my 26k connection wouldn't let me raid beyond the occasional 30 second lag delayed Onyxia group.
So I began raiding in December of 2005 by driving 18 miles into the city to play at a friend's house with broadband. This worked for a few months, but it was very inconvenient.
I finally ended up paying nearly 2000 dollars to have Cox Cable run a line down to my property. YAY FOR CABLE INTERNET !!!!!!!! The summer of 2007 ended my 56k shackles.
