Breakfast Topic: Which Warcraft moment would make a great cutscene?

Earlier this month, an interview was conducted with Jeff Kaplan by Phil Kollar of Game Informer where they talked shop about World of Warcraft. One of the items that piqued my interest was that a new cutscene was being included in patch 3.3. I'm sure we can guess that it has something to do with Icecrown Citadel (and Arthas).
I know the Wrathgate cinematic itself was a big hit. Blizzard is certainly no stranger to creating movies. There's the Ulduar trailer, the Call of the Crusade trailer, and the Fall of the Lich king trailer.
Remember the Sunwell Plateau? That one is my favorite out of them all.
I'm sure there will be new cinematics to come. But if you could pick a moment in the game, what would you like to see in cinematic form?

Abso-friggin'-lutely.

Quite so... although I've always wanted to see Sylvanas pulling away from the Lich King, rallying the newly-freed Undead and then kicking the Scourge's butt with its own soldiers.

wow. that was... whats the word... spectacular! i teared up a little bit too. i remember this guy did the ballad of captain placeholder, that made me tear up a bit too.

I thought that at first, but then figured what Darrowshire really needs is simply audio tracks, I prefer it in game rather than a cut scene. Voices would add a lot to the way it plays out.

The first time you take the Crystalsong portal to Dalaran.
KJP Dec 26th 2009 11:01AM
That would be annoying for mages, who don't need no stinking portal stone.
PvtDeth Dec 26th 2009 4:59PM
@KJP
The FIRST time. Mages have to get to Dalaran the same way as anyone else before they can learn the portal spell.

Easy. An Obsidian Sanctum cutscene. Hell, even an official trailer or something. There's no explanation besides in a book about why the hell we're storming into the private chambers of a dragonflight.

The first time your character sets foot in Northrend. I found that it was exciting anyhow, to be in the endgame continent of the game, but if there was a nice video that introduced you to some of the lore aspects of what happened there, it would make all the quest lines more interesting and meaningful.

I've often recommended that when people first enter Northrend, they go by way of the boat from Menethil Harbor to Howling Fjord. The boat ride itself is nearly a cinematic in itself. The Borean Tundra arrival is nothing in comparison, although I really liked the bit with the recruit processing center.
The funny thing is, I've run into several 80s who have no idea where to get on the HF boat from Menethil, and some who don't even know there is one.
The way Wrath has developed and evolved (with one ahem3.2ahem notable, if necessary exception) I am have very high hopes for Cataclysm.
Phienn Dec 26th 2009 9:59AM
I agree about the boat ride, but its kind of a lose-lose situation. You either get the awesomeness of the boat ride to the fjord, but you miss Boreans cool opening quests, or you miss the boat ride. I think a cut-scene that encapsulates both would be perfect :D

For me, the introduction to Northrend (and outland for that matter) need to be reworked using the Deathknight introduction as an example of how to do it "right".
Phasing and instancing.
With the example of going to northrend for the first time, for the Horde for example, to involve the original boats trips that were made from Tirisfal and Durotar which results in Vengence Landing and Grammash's Landing. Something that would also show these forces getting their shit together and making their respective fortresses, as well as explaining why they stopped using boats to get there (it clearly didn't work out for them).

lol do a borderlands style cut scene when you first come up on him?
Would be amazing.
Muse Dec 26th 2009 9:46AM
Cutscenes don't really work inside raid instances; I'd have to mute vent to get anything out of it, and the RL would freak if I missed anything they said. (And no, my guild doesn't do "quiet a moment so the lore nerds can savour the moment." They'd ruin it on purpose. Great gamers, good people, lore stupid.)
Solo play though? Yes please! Particularly, I think, it could help to create a sense of "this just happened right before you got here" feeling of zoning into disaster areas that at the moment feel a bit timeless.

The only time I've been in a raid and had the chance to watch lore --- my first time through TOC when Arthas breaks the floor.
My guild said "Stand right here, it's really cool. You have to see it"
But I think it was more to see me "OMG what do we do, do we run, do we fight."
After that, the scene became a who can "ice walk" another to their death.
