WoW Moviewatch: It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like This Raid Isn't Going to Happen
It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like This Raid Isn't Going to Happen is the newest release in Oxhorn's shorts series. It's obviously based off the song of the same name, from Oxhorn's Christmas for Geeks album. At the time that collection was released, I was curious whether any of the new music would make it to video form. I'm pretty glad this song was the one to make the cut.
It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like This Raid Isn't Going To Happen features a lot of the pitfalls, troubles, and failures that can keep a raid from getting started. Whether you're accustomed to PUGging your raids or simply going with your own guild, there's probably at least a few of these anecdotes that will be familiar to you. I admit that the surprise-pulling-rogue bit made me laugh and weep at the same time.
I especially liked that Oxhorn used in-game footage in this video. It's been a while since we've seen much of that from him, so it's a nice reminded that Oxhorn truly is firmly rooted in the community we all love.

I'd never heard the song before. My rhythmic mind started getting annoyed at the "beginning to look a lot like the raid isn't going to happen" line halfway through. It obviously could be handled much more elegantly, so I can only guess it's meant for humor. For me, though, the "rushing words to fit a meter" bit only "works" once or twice in a song.
I liked the video itself, but I couldn't help but wonder why it featured so much five-man footage for a song about raids.

no its not meant for humor... this song is totally serious...

It's a parody of the Christmas carol, "It's Beginning to Look Alot Like Christmas" both in lyrics and in melody, and the rushed meter due to significantly more syllables is part of the gag. I guess though the joke would be lost if you've never heard the original.

How could you have NOT heard the original, even if you don't celebrate Christmas?

this is by far the best oxhorn video ever made. ever.
(shrugs, drops microphone.)

the repair bills for this video were far worth it

"It's beginning to look a lot like dustbowl" just got ninja'd ;/

I hope you're joking. Both are works of parody from two -completely- different games based on a song written close to 50 years ago.
I'd put good money you QQd about the Sandman nerfs, didn't you...

Last night I just waited 45 minutes for a ToC raid to start, then got kicked in favor of the tank's pal. This video made me smile. Thanks, even though you're a Hordie.

Not sure if this is the place to ask this question, but I am going to anyhow:
What tier set is it on the priest in the preview of the video above? I'm pretty sure that is a priest so correct me if I'm wrong. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Are you talking about the Blood Elf during the part where the raid leader says "Screw you guys, I'm going home!"?
That's tier 5 from SSC/TK.

Okay I'm going to preface my comments by saying that overall I liked the video and this is just my inner perfectionist kicking in.
The rhythm of the words killed me, too. It's just a personal thing, but I hate when a parody doesn't use the same structure as the original, or doesn't make an effort to make it fit in. I didn't feel that it fit in.
Also I was slightly bugged by the fact that most of the in-game footage looked to be from 5mans.. not raids.
However I have a long and undying love for Oxhorn so I will forgive.

Wow, if that's really in-game footage at 2+ minutes in, my Macbook seriously underserves on character model framerates :(
Very nicely done. Now I suppose I'll have to watch some more, to figure out the origin of "blit."

One is a work of parody that was original, the other wasn't.
How much money do you wish to bet, i'll happily take you up on it.
Good to see the fanboys are out in force though.

...wait, what?
Because one person parodies a song that's 50 years old... no one else can parody it, because it would be derivative of the first parody?
