"Every time I kill his son I forget to ask High Overlord Saurfang when the doors to the next wing will be down. Soon?"
It should be soon, but we don't really know for sure. Our collective gut says it will open this upcoming Tuesday, but Muradin and Saurfang still say 28 days until it opens. It hasn't changed since Day 1. Blizzard will just flip the switch whenever they please, we figure.

"I recently did the epic druid flight form quest. Spoiler alert, it revolved a lot around the emerald dream. Turns out the raven lord was causing problems. At the end of the quest I killed him. Does that mean I fixed the emerald dream? Is there no possibility of the emerald expansion because of a class only quest that fixed the whole problem?"
Just because the raven lord was causing problems in the Emerald Dream does not mean the raven lord was the only one causing problems in the Emerald Dream. You just dealt with that particular issue. We really don't have any clear idea of what's going on in the Dream beyond the fact that it's bad, and it's screwing with the Green Dragonflight.
Of course, that being said, Malfurion is making his comeback to our realm in Cataclysm. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't just throw their arms up in the air and say, "Okay, the Emerald Dream is fixed now!" So I'm pretty sure Malfurion is just under the impression that what's happening on Azeroth takes precedence, leaving Ysera and Cenarius to deal with the Nightmare themselves. I'm sure you can guess where that's going for them.
Darksky asked...
"I remember reading in one of the loading screen "tips" something to the effect that "while players can make critical strikes, enemy mobs cannot." Again, over-exposed photographic memory film may be playing a huge part in my confusion, but... did I seriously misread it, or is the tip wrong? Maybe it only meant spell crits or special attack crits or something like that... don't know. Just hoping somebody else remembers that tip a bit more accurately and can de-confuse me."
Yeah, you're just misremembering the tip slightly. Mobs cannot crit with spells, but they can crit with any physical strikes. For example, a skeleton punching you in the face will land a crit now and then if you don't have the proper defense rating. A skeleton casting fireballs at you will never, ever crit, even if you're butt naked. That is, until they run out of mana and run up to you to start the whole face punching thing.

"Is T10 going to be the final tier of armour before Cataclysm? If there will be no more tier gear, how likely is it that we'll see any new armour at ilevels higher than we can currently get in ICC?Is T10 going to be the final tier of armour before Cataclysm? If there will be no more tier gear, how likely is it that we'll see any new armour at ilevels higher than we can currently get in ICC?"
I think it's too early to predict what absolutely will happen, but as far as we know, Blizzard's plan is to end with Tier 10. Not only have they pretty clearly said Icecrown will be the last major raid zone in Wrath of the Lich King, but we've seen some pretty nasty gear inflation due to the developers already needing to sneak in an extra tier of gear for how they handled hard modes. I'm pretty sure that if we were handed some Tier 11 before the end of the expansion, Azeroth would explode.
They have mentioned that we might get one or two one-shot raid bosses to herald the incoming Cataclysm just to keep us busy, similar to things like Onyxia, Gruul and Malygos. If we do get something like that, I personally expect the epics we get there will be aimed towards leveling in Cataclysm rather than elevating us to even higher ilevels.
Niennee asked...
"When did the portal area in TB (with the priest/mage/inscription trainers) become mountable? It always annoyed me that I had to run out of the cave to mount up, yet the other day I went through the portal in Dalaran on my mount and was pleasantly surprised to see myself not get dismounted on the other side. Is this some stealth change or did I just miss the announcement?"
Whoa, whoa, whoa. I think a better question is why does the Horde get to mount up by the portals in Dalaran? As a primarily Alliance player, I call BS!
Okay, not really. In all seriousness, I have no idea when this happened.

This Queue is the most blatant case of fraudulent advertising since the film, The Never Ending Story.

Don't forget "Final Fantasy". I laughed so hard when I first saw "Final Fantasy II"... XD
Suzaku Dec 31st 2009 11:39PM
In Japanese, the word for "final" also means "ultimate" or "complete".
The Japanese rendering of the title, 最終幻想 (Saishū Gensō), can actually be taken to literally mean "the ultimate unreality".

@Suzaku, while that's clever, it's pretty well known that Sakaguchi Hironobu, the creator of the series, titled Final Fantasy that way because he intended to retire after the game was made, and because Square as a company was facing bankruptcy and wanted to release one last game. The game's success caught pretty much everybody by surprise, and they fully admit the irony of the increasingly-inaccurate title.
It's my understanding, incidentally, that 最終幻想 is a back-formation from the English, since the games are generally referred to as ファイナルファンタシー in the titles.
Now back to being on topic. >_>;;

Speaking of portals, what's up with the portal room in the mage tower in Stormwind? I go up to the big green blob, I inch forward, and next thing I know not only am I a good few yards from the big green blob, but my character has turned 180 degrees.

Do you believe you can fly? Do you believe you can touch the sky?

I'm sure this has been answered at some point, but I figure I'd ask: Why exactly are there places where we suddenly and magically cannot mount up (I mean *aside* from combat which is obvious), such as getting killed by the trash after Ionar in Halls of Lightning and having to run all the way back. You've seen how big and expansive those halls are, I don't see a major reason why we cannot mount up to get back a bit quicker. At least in Culling of Stratholme we can ride from that house to the city proper-- so its not a consistent rule entirely either.
I'm not suggesting there aren't places where it makes a bit more sense; I can understand small areas such as the various vendors in Orgimmar and their tiny huts, where there just isn't enough room, but a lot of the times, it seems like we have to dismount because... the game said so, and nothing else. For the majority of locations where it occurs, why do we have to dismount?

The general theme seems to be that we cannot mount while inside something. Be it a big udular building, tower, cave, hole in the ground, or shop.
Game story wise, why can't we? I donno. Horse is spooked, or maybe our characters are just very polite of other people's property.
Oh, btw: Ironforge breaks this rule. But i guess the dwarves don't mind cleaning up the ram poo.
VioletPheonix Jan 1st 2010 3:05PM
Exodar breaks it too.

I think adding a new raid boss to fill in time between ICC and cataclysm would be good. They could make em drop sum sort of OP Hierlooms for lvling 80-85.
Suzaku Jan 1st 2010 12:05AM
They're not going to give heirlooms for 80-85. They already stated that they don't want the heirlooms to work for 80-85, at least at first, because they want people to experience the new content. Same reason they had cold weather flying.
If Blizzard has something new, they're going to try and make you spend as much time doing that as possible.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. I think a better question is why does the Horde get to mount up by the portals in Dalaran? As a primarily Alliance player, I call BS!"
Eh? Alliance has been able to be mounted next to the Dalaran portals since day one of Wrath. There was just that stupid little hallway that used to dismount you.
Drakkenfyre Dec 31st 2009 6:53PM
I was going to say, I see people on mounts there all the time.
Adeany Dec 31st 2009 7:33PM
Hallway doesn't dismount you if you don't touch the floor. Try it with a flying mount for some cheap laughs :P
Viper007Bond Dec 31st 2009 7:36PM
The hallway doesn't dismount you anymore period. It was fixed many patches ago.

Was anyone able to play a hunter in the Cataclysm demos at Blizzcon or anywhere else and experience the focus change? I haven't seen write-ups anywhere so I assume now, but no harm in asking. If so, tell us about it...
Suzaku Jan 1st 2010 12:06AM
I don't think they had the change implemented yet in the demo.
Even so, they've discussed it in a general way. It'll work like energy, but regenerate more slowly. Instead, some abilities will refill chunks of focus when they hit.
No word on if they intend to have hunters share it with their pets again, like they did back in beta, but I'm thinking probably not.
