The Queue: More like Porkrend, am I right

That's influenza A virus subtype H1N1 up there, but I'm pretty sure you thought it was just a really blurry map of Northrend at first glance. I'm not wrong. You thought it.
Mr. Shinra asked...
Why exactly are there places where we suddenly and magically cannot mount up (I mean *aside* from combat which is obvious), such as getting killed by the trash after Ionar in Halls of Lightning and having to run all the way back. You've seen how big and expansive those halls are, I don't see a major reason why we cannot mount up to get back a bit quicker. At least in Culling of Stratholme we can ride from that house to the city proper-- so its not a consistent rule entirely either.
I'm not suggesting there aren't places where it makes a bit more sense; I can understand small areas such as the various vendors in Orgimmar and their tiny huts, where there just isn't enough room, but a lot of the times, it seems like we have to dismount because... the game said so, and nothing else. For the majority of locations where it occurs, why do we have to dismount?
The rule in place for 99% of the game is that you cannot mount indoors. There are some exceptions to the rule, such as Ironforge, but that's the basic idea.
Sicadastra asked...
Was anyone able to play a hunter in the Cataclysm demos at Blizzcon or anywhere else and experience the focus change? I haven't seen write-ups anywhere so I assume now, but no harm in asking. If so, tell us about it...
The hunter focus changes weren't yet implemented in recent playable Cataclysm demos. We'll report about them in-depth once they're implemented, be it in new demos or in the alpha/beta.
Butterbear asked...
When people say Thrall is in level 40 greens, what do they mean exactly?
Thrall's model isn't unique, and his armor has the same model as level 40 green gear available to all players. It's embarrassing. At best, he's wearing Stockade Pauldrons, which means he probably spent a lot of time farming Tyr's Hand back in the day.
Airleagan asked...
With dwarf shamans presumably coming in the new expansion, would this mean that the Wildhammer dwarf clan is finally officially becoming a part of the Alliance and thus uniting with the current Bronzebeard clan of Ironforge? Or do you think that they will become a separate faction linked towards the Alliance like the Frostborn dwarves are currently?
I've no doubt that playable dwarf shaman will be Wildhammer dwarves, at least in canon, but it's hard to say whether or not there'll be a new Wildhammer faction. Old-school players will recall that there used to be ways to get Wildhammer rep, but that was removed a long time ago. We'll just have to wait and see.
Healem asked...
Does the Cathedral of Darkness have any purpose in Icecrown?
Yep, it's involved with the Tirion's Gambit questline. A big event plays out there, but I won't spoil it for those who haven't done it. Those interested should complete the Argent Vanguard and Shadow Vault questlines in Icecrown, then head to the Skybreaker.
Mcdingo asked...
Someone told me that they are removing old world raids. Is this true? That would make sense with me for MC being that the zone is getting a remodel but I love my AQ. I'm sure there will be massive nerd rage if we loose the zone with the coolest mounts in the game, Im talking the battle tanks.
Blizzard hasn't officially said anything about removing the old 40-man raids in Cataclysm, but it'd sure make me happy if they got rid of Molten Core forever. Forever.

Banic Rhys Jan 1st 2010 8:24PM
There's even an Ulduar at the top.
Joey2250 Jan 2nd 2010 1:25AM
And a giant empty nothing in the middle like crystal song forest.
Rakah Jan 5th 2010 11:09PM

kooda Jan 2nd 2010 5:48AM
Go play a rogue Rakah energy - focus much the same.
Croe Jan 1st 2010 4:10PM
Have you ever seen what happens when a protodrake has to do his business? You wouldn't want them inside your living room either...
Kaz Jan 1st 2010 4:11PM
hmmm...making Northrend out of H1N1... maybe this should be submitted to the World of Warcrafts column?
Turlagh Jan 1st 2010 8:20PM
Or making H1N1 out of Northrend. I think those Undead stinkers are behind this.

There's ... some kind of problem with removing Ahn'Qiraj? Why is that a problem? Turning into a gaping chasm of lava in the Cataclysm could only *improve* Desolace, the place is a hellhole already. Azeroth Needs Bug Spray.
Zeplar Jan 1st 2010 4:27PM
Ahn'Qiraj is in Silithus. Which is an even worse zone, really.
Jari Jan 1st 2010 4:34PM
Hey.. I loved AQ! I loved the whole egyptian theme, and it also reminded me a LOT of ACT2 from Diablo2. The war effort race was interesting for me.
I don't get the Desolace part... AQ is in Silithus.
Fletcher Jan 1st 2010 4:50PM
Yeah, that was me goofing up. Should indeed read (horrible horrible horrible) Silithus, not (horrible) Desolace. I've been awake for a while and now it's too hot to think.
SINisterWyvern Jan 1st 2010 4:54PM
On Desolace though, it's going green in Cataclysm
Hoggersbud Jan 1st 2010 5:41PM
Desolace, Silithus, both empty barren zones where nobody really wants to go.
I understand the confusion.
Zuljo Jan 2nd 2010 7:53AM
Too hot to think?! WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU!!!???
haha, it got to minus 10 here in scotland last night >_>
Donaghy Jan 2nd 2010 10:08PM
There's this thing called the southern hemisphere. While you're freezing your ass off in Scotland, we're melting in Australia.
Gimmlette Jan 1st 2010 4:13PM
They can get rid of MC as long as they give me my T2 hunter pants first. (mutters) Stoopid Ragnaros. Always dropping warlock and mage gear.
Vitos Jan 1st 2010 8:18PM
Yes, but for my Pally. And I also want thunderfury. So maybe blizz should wait a while before removing it.
Amaxe Jan 1st 2010 8:55PM
So... you're saying you want Ragnaros to drop his pants?

Since 3.3 came out, the priest's Levitate spell allows players to sidle along inclined slopes (mountains) and reach unknown areas between and around zones, both in overworlds and instances. I've seen videos where priests would climb over the mountains of Old Hillsbrad and find immense, unused, and well-detailed chunks of the surrounding zones like Alterac and Arathi Highlands. Anyone know why these unused areas exist within dungeons? Why couldn't the developers limit the space in dungeons to the areas we could access? It seems like a waste of data, but that's just my idea.
