This fight is pretty much a bitch for hunters in the first phase.

Half of our dps comes from steady shot/auto-shot, and the other half comes from spell-based damage (at least for us survival/mm hunters).

i had the same problem as a enhancement shaman and so did the ret pally in my guild he swapped to tank so our warr could do melee damage and i just kinda felt useless

Yeah, we're kinda blessed in that our best shammy is elemental. She's something like the 5th or 6th best geared person in our guild.

Keep enhance, hunters, or ret paladins on the boss.
Since they do hybrid damage, they are losing a ton on the other types, so taking the shield down is what they do best.
