I agree with you, way back in very early beta, pretty sure it was alpha even, they had the infernal as a level 10 pet instead of the VW(it wasn't in the game, it was just what they were thinking of implementing). And by the time I was actually able to summon my own infernal, I was very very disappointed and as such became so bored with the class that I stopped playing it at all for a very long time. We didn't have much back then, practically all our pets were pretty bad except the VW and he was used so much it seemed like we had nothing else.

I really hope for cataclysm they either make those pets viable in some way or another(or make them real pets), or just give the warlocks a new pet already, especially for those not demo.
