In Game fixes for January 4th, 2010

- The mail Bloodsunder Bracers have had their appropriate socket bonus added.
- The proc on Zod's Repeating Longbow should no longer reset auto shots.
- The gear requirement for heroic Halls of Reflection has been increased.
Like I said, short but sweet. Of course, we do have an extended downtime coming up tonight, and there's a few of us here at the WoW.com secret headquarters who are thinking (and it's just a gut feeling, mind you) that we'll see a few more patched in bug fixes in the morning. Regardless of what comes though, we will, of course, have all the news right here.

Fun times.
Hopefully this means less wiping in HoR.
WoWie Zowie Jan 4th 2010 9:46PM
HoR is the wiper of pugs
Kaiser Jan 4th 2010 10:43PM
Higher gear requirement != Skill
It will still be a wipe-fest, but with higher bills
Kaiser Jan 4th 2010 10:44PM
Repair bills that is ^^

The first time I tanked Halls was in a pug and on my alt. I asked the other players to judge whether or not I was geared for it; they decided to try and see. Only one wipe, and we were through. Such a relief.
I healed the instance for the first time on my main today -- there's a lot more room for finesse in that role, as tanking and DPS seem locked into cleaving a crowd of undead. Halls' ambiance and its narrative are picture-perfect, but was it Blizzard's intention to equate challenge with volume? Deathwhisper's first phase has a certain elegance to it; Halls' ten waves of Lordaeron ghosts really don't.

@ Kaiser
Well you know, you've got to have skills to pay the bills.
Faith-lb Jan 5th 2010 11:16AM
As a random dungeon gear doesnt have a lot to do with it , its the ability to play your roll.
I had a DPS DK with excellent gear deathgripping abominations to him , to which he died cuz he got cleaved and spat in the face , after which he 1st said
'dude you should aoe taunt off me' , I said sure , taunting off a deathgripping dk is my top priority , and not taunting off the healer who gets aggro from miles out from the numerous adds that keep spawning near the Lich King that keeps walking over to us.
then he went on and said ' well the healer sucks I didnt get a heal'
no-one ever talks bad about the healer , I as tank feel very very strongly about this , so I said
"Healers heal damage , they are not supposed to heal stupid " stupid ofcourse being a dps aggroing a mob , pulling it to melee range and fixating it onto the dps for a period of time , as death grip does
with that story said , I find the hardest part the 1st 10 waves , not with killing orders or mages , but with poisons all around , I always run with priest healers (my pocket healer is a wonderful Holy Priest) and they cant cleanse poison at all , and if you dont have a shammy for their wonderful totem , you are really hoping some dps have awareness to cleanse , otherwise as pally tank im tanking mobs , LoS-ing em to me while furiously mashing my cleanse/decursive buttons

OMFG ty for HoR change, makes me cry when i get healer and tank in naxxish gear that cant play.
Matt Jan 5th 2010 6:33AM
Naxx gear is plenty good enough for H HoR. People just need to learn to use their CC skills and also to follow a kill order using single target DPS.
jslim419 Jan 5th 2010 6:31AM
you would rather get a healer or tank in T-9 emblem gear that can't play? the problem is simply upping the gear requirement isn't going to keep you from getting grouped with bad players. i suggest they implement some kind of random simple (yet not to easy) logic game for the person that que'd for the dungeon to solve. if they can't solve it.. sorry no HoR for you.
Kaiser Jan 5th 2010 12:29PM
@Matt
This.
Shackle/Sheep/Hex/Trap/Fear is your friend folks, especially on those pesky Mages.
It also helps in PoS & FoS when you get the large groups of skeleton & undead adds. CC one of the casters, and your healer will end the fight on at least 75% mana instead of 50% or less...

That HoR change makes me happy. HoR makes FoS and PoS look like UK and Nexus.
Jay Jan 5th 2010 12:19AM
Eek, then I am glad as I judge FoS is beyond my skill although well with my gearscore.
I would love blizz add an optional a hard limit I could set myself yet still remain random. That is say I am willing to run anything up to XYZ instance but never ever randomly pick me for anything higher as has happened so many times.
Sure, I can do it by manually ticking the dungeons I feel confident I can pull my weight in but then I miss the emblems and cash.
Mr. Yetti Jan 4th 2010 9:59PM
Am I reading this properly? Does this say the gear requirement has been -increased-? as in, it'll be -tougher-?
Rapskallion Jan 4th 2010 10:08PM
I think it means the internal gear score Blizz calculates for players will have a higher baseline requirement for people trying to use the random finder to get into H-HoR.
arcady0 Jan 4th 2010 9:57PM
I hope the H:HoR increase is enough to cut my DK tank out of the list...
I know she lacks the gear for it. I've been a tank since early BC on 3 classes at endgame - I know how to tank, but that DK just can't handle that instance. Its been very close, but just not yet.
Maybe I had bad DPS or healers... or maybe my own gear.
But either way... I was getting sick of getting H:HoR over and over again and wiping to it over and over again...
So I'd be happy if my own toon can't get in now... I'd rather not go there just yet. :)
Shionia Jan 4th 2010 10:47PM
THIS. Have hated dropping whenever I see the loading screen pop up on toons that I KNOW shouldn't be in there with random others.
Darboux Jan 4th 2010 11:58PM
Ah yes! I hated getting HHoR when I was gearing up my tank. One time I got dropped in there, apologized to the group and showed myself out, waited 15 minutes to requeue and got dropped in there again with a totally different group! 30 minutes wasted.
Melvyl Jan 5th 2010 12:24AM
I got in HoR on my Holy Paladin today. I told the group right off to kick me if they wanted cause I had no experience in healing in there. They decided to try. We got as far as Round 9 after three or four wipes. I decided to leave gracefully.
A short while later, I hit the finder again and got ... HoR. I apologized to the group right at the beginning and left.
I ended up doing FoS, PoS, and ToC today along with some others. But HoR I do not want to get again for a while.
MightyMuffin Jan 5th 2010 12:49AM
This so very much. I have a druid pally that can heal FoS and PoS with some effort, but HoR is so freakin' crazy with the first boss's fear. It always kills me, and I hate to say it but I have dropped group from it many a time just telling the group "My gear cannot handle the stress of the battle." The really strange thing, though, is that the waves aren't bad, the 2nd boss isn't bad, and even the lich king chase isn't bad. The only bad thing is that first boss, and it is the gear checker to me.
To all the groups I've failed, I truly am sorry, and hopefully with this in place, I will not fail the group again. HoR...I will come back for you...when I have the proper gear for you...and when I do...you will be mine...muahahaha...muahahahaha...muahaha...muaha...haha...ha...ha....haaaa....
