In Game fixes for January 4th, 2010

- The mail Bloodsunder Bracers have had their appropriate socket bonus added.
- The proc on Zod's Repeating Longbow should no longer reset auto shots.
- The gear requirement for heroic Halls of Reflection has been increased.
Like I said, short but sweet. Of course, we do have an extended downtime coming up tonight, and there's a few of us here at the WoW.com secret headquarters who are thinking (and it's just a gut feeling, mind you) that we'll see a few more patched in bug fixes in the morning. Regardless of what comes though, we will, of course, have all the news right here.

I was more referring to the ladder map veto in WC3, but that Halo description sounds similar. I knew there was gonna be someone that read it too simplisitically eh MasterAsh!
What I meant was, when you ding 80 now with a new alt, you want to grind this new dungeon system to maximise your badge gain for welfare ilvl232+ epix etc. I recently dinged a disc priest and I knew he wasn't able to cope with hc pos + hor but I needed the extra 2 badges from each random. So it was a risk to run and if I could have veto'd them due to knowing I wasn't gear-ready for them, then I would have saved myself getting the 15 min debuff and the various groups waiting for a new healer (i told them at the start each time I wasn't geared enough etc so as not to waste anyone's time given the circumstances).
Granted, this veto really is only for the scenario I've given (newly dinged badge grinders). I just think it would be a nice option. ^^

Fantastic news on HoR. Don't nerf the instance, just make it harder to get into. I've never had issue with it at all with a capable group--got the less than six minutes achievement easily with guildies--but tonight, with a random bunch, we wiped no less than half a dozen times.
The tank had never even been there before (why would you -start- HoR on Heroic?), two healers were severely undergeared and kept going oom, the list goes on. I was just thinking about the gear requirements and wishing they were stricter before this evening's epic failure.

WTB a scoring system to decide who gets into H-HoR that's based off of how often you use your interrupts and dispels, how often you use your CCs, how often you peel off the tank, how often you throw up a heal as a DPS or a tank, how often you snatch a mob back from a healer or a squishy DPS as a tank or a plate DPS...
MasterAsh Jan 5th 2010 1:09AM
Being deep demo, my interrupts and dispels are on my other pet. -_-
I do have my Felguard toss some clutch Intercepts from time to time, though. XD

It'll never happen people rather sit and spam their gearscores for groups, or want to see a achievement for something that just was added that night, than for people to have actual knowledge of their classes.
A friend told me this of someone they've run groups with, they id'ed this persons weapon and wondered why would they have cinderglacier instead of fallen crusader on a 2H. the person goes whats the mats for that enchant? sigh.....

Or perhaps a system based on dungeon/raid boss kill to dungeon/raid death ratio and some form of mechanic that tells you how many times your character has died in fire, void-zones etc.
Something like that would be MUCH better than something that gives you a score based on the iLevel of your gear but doesn't take enchant choice or gem choice into account - or even whether you HAVE enchanted or gemmed it!
Sleutel Jan 5th 2010 6:28PM
@Bigmu:
Honestly, I'd even be happy with a "you must have completed at least X Heroic WotLK dungeons on this character to enter" restriction. Experience doesn't guarantee improvement, but at least it gives you a better indication that somebody has spent SOME time learning how to play their character at max level.

Speaking of fixes...
Has anyone else noticed the following:
1) you kill a mob, it MAY die regularly, or it MAY instead die, then flash back to an upright position only to immediately die AGAIN?
2) You click on a quest, you hear the "Quest Accepted" drums but you haven't even clicked on anything yet?
3) You are standing directly in front of a mob and it's saying, "You're too far away" even though you're attacking it?
MasterAsh Jan 5th 2010 1:10AM
I've noticed 1 and 3. I just assumed I was lagging.
Riltia Jan 5th 2010 6:50AM
1, Yes.
2, Yes.
3, No.
And I swear I keep hearing the "thud" from the dungeon finder/BG tool at various points, even when not using them.

Oculus is getting seriously incentivised for people to actually finish it.

"Once Ley-Guardian Eregos is defeated, one loot bag per character will be provided in his chest in addition to the current rewards. Each loot bag will offer players rare gems, two additional Emblems of Triumph, and a chance of being rewarded the Reins of the Blue Drake. "
Holy crap! Talk about dangling a huge carrot! I guess Blizz really does care if people don't run Oculus.

I'm glad decided to raise the entry fee for HoR instead of nerfing it. Having said that, as a result of this change, I have a sinking feeling that both of my geared healers are going to start getting placed in HoR more and more for the random heroic. Not looking forward to that.

This may seem like a stupid question, but I havent played in a while, and havent heard anything about it recently.
There was a big fuss a few weeks ago about mobs going behind tanks while tanking and the whole way a mob interacts with a tank was changed with patch 3.3. It was extremely annoying, and all the tanks were asking for it to be fixed. I havent heard anything about it for ages, is it still happening?
I havent seen any posts saying its fixed yet. Although, I also havent seen any comments saying it is still buggy, and I dont really want it to be one of those things that is just forgotten about.
Sunaseni Jan 5th 2010 4:56AM
It's been fixed.
Matthew Rossi Jan 5th 2010 4:59AM
It's SUPPOSEDLY been fixed. I still see a lot of mobs moving right through me while tanking.
West Jan 5th 2010 12:42PM
It's 'better' but still not as good as it was before they decided to muck with it.
Before, i used to be able to AOE aggro, run through, turn, take a few steps back and all the mobs would be happily smashing me in the face with their backs to the party. now, there is usually a mob or two that thinks it's a rogue and wants to 'stab' me in the back with a frostbolt, etc. regardless of how much i try to reposition them in front of me.
In general, it's way better now then when it was fully busted, but it's still not perfect.
Hopefully today's patch has a nice hidden bug fix to make it all better.

The gear requirement for heroic Halls of Reflection has been increased.
FINALLY! I'vde been having shitty tanks w/ Blue gear and green trinkets.
Sark Jan 5th 2010 8:40AM
I think if they offered (2) Emblems of Conquest for every non-heroic (after the first one) then maybe more new 80's, in level 187-200 (maybe) would run the non-heroics more often to get the 219-226 gear before jumping into heroics and hoping they get pulled through.
Or, if that's too harsh, maybe (1) Emblem of Triumph after the first one in non-heroics?
In Heroic UK I saw a hunter pulling 500 DPS, a Shammy at 600 DPS, and a mage at 1300 DPS. I commented on it as I was topping the meter at 1600 DPS as the tank. We had a great healer and I'm geared for heroics...but it took a long time to burn down the first boss in there and I didn't feel like doing all of the work. I could understand in a non-heroic that folks don't have gear, but why are they queueing for Heroics??? Well, because there's no incentive to running more than one non-heroic.
