According to Blizzard:
Plagueworks has just opened today, starring Professor Putricide and his buddies, Festergut and Rotface. And before you have time to yawn at the lack of new challenging content, the next wing will be open. The Crimson Hall contains the leaders of the San'layn, undead blood elves who oversee the Scourge's operations throughout Azeroth. The blood-princes Valanar, Keleseth, and Taldaram were raised into undeath by the Lich King to avenge themselves while protecting their blood-queen, Lana'thel.

Any word yet on what the difficulty of this wing is as compared to the first? Please, no sarcastic responses unless they're really funny. :D
Arbitor Jan 5th 2010 7:46PM
Oh the Crimson Halls are gonna be difficult like you've never seen!
The blood princes are a 3boss encounter with a soft enrage mechanic, every 45 seconds an undead kael'thas is ressurected, these kael'thas's must be kited as every time one is killed they re-spawn with another zombie'thas, both announcing at the same time it was all merely a setback!
It is also worth noting that these zombie'thas's have an aoe fear ability, as well as periodically reciting their speech from magister's terrace.
They have a tendancy to speak loudly over the top of each other.

Thus, to all of you nay-sayers who said ICC wouldn't be finished until April and that therefore Cataclysm wouldn't be released until Fall of 2010... I say: HA!
*sliding more chips into the late Spring Cata release square on the betting pool*
and, yes, i'm talking to you, Luke from Boaz

for the 856,742,873rd time, you're not taking into account the beta testing timeframe. beta testing for wrath was started when? january? february? i got my invite in march. and the game wasn't released until november. how in the hell would this expansion go through beta testing any faster? instead of one new continent we're essentially getting two, from a developmental standpoint. new graphics and zone designs all around, along with new zones being put into existing empty spots. you have no idea the bugs that will come with that, all of which need re-coded for being fixed. all you optimists thinking this thing is coming any time soon(tm) need to think about what all needs to happen between now and the actual release. then you'll have a better idea of when it will come.

/agree with tatsumasa
And not only all of the zones, but all of the stats are being reworked. This means that most spells will have to be reworked, most if not all gear will have to be reworked, and gear scaling will take a TON of time seeing that there will only be 5 more levels. Not to mention the fact that Blizz is still releasing WRATH new content.
I'd take my precious internet points and move them closer to the end of 2010... November 14th... that's my call.
(Speaking of placing bets... WoW.com should have a contest who can guess what date Cata is coming out, and they get a free upgrade or something like that... maybe just some phat TCG lootz.)
PodPeople Jan 5th 2010 4:51PM
I think you're going to lose that bet. unless Blizzard has managed to do something they have not been able to thus far, an actual closed, absolutely zero leak, alpha, and has started moving into an extremely quiet closed beta, Cataclysm will not be released before summer. What are we going to do for the next 8 months you ask? 3.4 fluff raid, we all know it's coming... those Ice Trolls have yet to be raided, and they're really pissed about...something? maybe that there has been an xpac without a troll raid, and they feel neglected. so get ready to bash some troll skulls to get a glowy eye leopard, a rhino, and a Quetzle type flyer mounts, maybe a new troll-hide bag (24 slot).

Then why did they show so much info at BlizzCon last year, instead of waiting until this year to announce? Just seems that it would be too long of a time to let word of an expansion pack go, esp since the content shown looked well developed.
ash Jan 5th 2010 5:27PM
Well, something seems off with this timeframe for sure. I am beginning to think they will have some other sort of patch before Cata hits at this rate. Maybe it will be cool and lead into Cata in a very novel and integrative way, but that's still more wait time before Cata. Maybe Ajzol Nerub will gets its due, but probably not at this point. There's always those unused instance portals in the Wyrmrest Temple.

I don't think Blizz will implement a level 80 raid higher than ICC - they've stated before that they don't want a repeat of TBC.

WHAT? but im just started to do farm runs in kara and blizzard already dropping this on us? they giving out content too fast, CANT BREATH!!!!!!!!!!!!
ROB13 Jan 5th 2010 4:10PM
Good News Everyone! I just cleared through the Plague Words in a few hours! Terrible News Everyone! No good gear dropped =(
Jermakis Jan 5th 2010 4:18PM
Plague Words?
tatsumasa Jan 5th 2010 4:21PM
these would be the words that turn you into scourge.
ROB13 Jan 5th 2010 4:21PM
Yeah. Words like Vile, Cursed, Infected.
*Plague Works >
Jason Jan 5th 2010 4:21PM
Plague Words? That the sequel to Scribblenauts?
Arbitor Jan 5th 2010 7:51PM
Ok, you can tell me then.
Does the abomination boss with a low voice (can't remember which one, Rotface or Festergut) sound like patrick from spongebob to you?
The resemblance is uncanny.

"And before you have time to yawn at the lack of new challenging content, the next wing will be open."
No, if the new wings are as easy as the first one, I'll start yawning tomorrow.
Clbull Jan 6th 2010 10:13PM
I thought every encounter in ICC so far was easy... except for Lady Deathwhisper (25M)
Thank god she is being nerfed today. The massive add waves and DPS requirements got really annoying after a while.
Turande Jan 6th 2010 9:09AM
Top raiding guilds will have probably not too much problems with the new fights.
So it's good in my opinion that they at least slow them down a bit so they don't get bored after the first 2 weeks already.
For most guilds the new wings will prove more then enough challenge with the limited amount of tries you can have on last bosses of each wing.
Kinka Jan 6th 2010 12:57PM
"Alright guys...regular raid night is over. Let's go to the PTR and learn the new fights."
*A few hours pass on the PTR*
*Repeat process*
"Just got Arthas to go. Good work everyone."
"THIS IS RIDICULOUS BLIZZARD!!!1ONE1 People are almost clearing Icecrown on the first day! You need to stop catering to casuals!"
*A room full of programmers is in discussion at Blizz HQ.*
"So we'll Sunwell it. Stop the little pricks from whining about Icecrown being cleared too fast. Instead they'll wine about the gating mechanic and I for one could use a breath of fresh air."
