The Queue: Bad Wolf

The above picture continues my obsession with Dr. Who, thanks to Liz. I'm not saying there's a space time disturbance here, or that something bad is about to happen. But it might, because there is a blue police box outside of my apartment.
Johnthediver asked...
"Dance studios? Still coming? I am sick and tired of doing the "Hammer" or head banging."
We haven't heard anything about it, so I'd imagine Blizzard is keeping news of it very close to their chest. We'll know if it's coming out in the next expansion when Cataclysm's features become more apparent.
Fallen asked...
"Was just wondering if there was an age limit on the applications for the columnist positions?"
You have to be legally employable in your place of residence. WoW.com right now has staff from their mid-20s through 40s. If your city/county/state/country/planet says you can be employed at 3 years old, then you can work here. If it says you have to be 16, then you can work here.
David asked...
"I really dont like Halls of Reflection, If possible i'd like to avoid it when using the LFG Tool. Could i wear like a set of blues so it wont queue me up for it?"
Nope, if you queue for a random dungeon and you have the gear for it, you have a chance to get put in it. There's no way to say "Don't put me in this dungeon." But it would really be nice if there were such an option. I know some folks at Blizzard agree with me here, so maybe we'll see something like that in the future.
Coupee asked...
"How fast are you traveling when you take a flight path? They sometimes go in very out of the way routes and was wondering if it would be faster to just take my flying mount?"
The rule of thumb is that they travel between 300% and 320% faster than running. Your epic mount travels at 280%, and special epic mounts travel at 310%.
As mentioned in the comments, the flight path mounts take lots of detours, so there's lot of situations where flying directly to the location yourself is faster than jumping on a mount. I generally fly to places on my epic if I don't need to do something else, otherwise I'll hop on the gryphon and go AFK while flying.

Don't forget that DK's specced into "on a pale horse" go even faster. I usually top out at +356%.
longshot1138 Jan 6th 2010 8:13PM
edit: That is on a 280% epic. don't know about a 310% cuz I don't have one. :(
Iwanttobeasleep Jan 6th 2010 8:28PM
310*1.2=372%.
Alanid Jan 6th 2010 8:57PM
Paladins with their Crusader Aura have a 20% increase too so pally's can fly at 300% or 330% if you have the super special awesome mount
Tural Jan 6th 2010 9:27PM
@Alanid: Crusader Aura is multiplicative, not additive. With CA, a 280% mount will increase speed by 356%, a 310% mount will increase speed by 392%.
Tural Jan 6th 2010 9:30PM
Small addition to that, you have to take into account the base 100% speed of the player. That's why they're not 336% and 372%.
380 * 1.2 = 456
410 * 1.2 = 492
StopQQ Jan 6th 2010 9:37PM
Tural is right here your top flight speed will be 392% with crusader aura or on a pale horse
I was about to post then i saw his correction :D
And if you are wearing a set of blues you will never get into HoR, the internal Gear check look at the gears you are wearing not the one you have in your bag.
loop_not_defined Jan 6th 2010 10:59PM
@StopQQ
The Dungeon Finder looks at all the gear in your bags (not bank, though).
Zarhym, 12/09/2009:
"Similar to the gear checks in Battlegrounds, the system will check all of the gear in your inventory."
scherbaddie Jan 6th 2010 11:14PM
so if you have an argent pony, you can do this once every 4 hours and get the gear from your bank while in the instance
Angus Jan 7th 2010 1:10AM
Flight paths are 310% speed.
I have confirmed this on a violet proto drake with no movement increasing abilities on my paladin. I then put on crusader aura and hit aura mastery for fun and it is insane.
ecwfrk Jan 7th 2010 2:35AM
Using MonkeySpeed, Flight Path mounts travel from anywhere between 140% to 435% (With Crusader Aura up). Most flight paths are designed around being a scenic route. When you move over something Blizz wants you to gawk at, the mount will often slow down. When swerving around a completely uninteresting obstacle or barren area, they tend to go faster.
However if you measure the average flight speed, it tends to be around 330% for all flights (again, with Crusader Aura).

my bad
Guildenstern Jan 6th 2010 8:09PM
Dance studios? Why on earth would Blizzard give you anything for free when they could dangle it in front of your face as a bonus to you buying their new expansion, then never implement it in favor of adding some bells and whistles to it and charging you $15 American for it later?
Rest assured you're never going to get it for free. The micro-transaction pets were only the first step.
Psiwave Jan 6th 2010 8:16PM
Whew, someone had their paranoia pops with extra bitter milk this morning.....
Hyacinthe Jan 6th 2010 9:04PM
OMG! This! Why would Blizzard release any new content when they can just charge for it, in fact??? My tinfoil hat told me that we're going to have to start buying patch content like we do expansions!!! YOU ARE SO RIGHT. You know what we should do? We should tell Blizzard we disapprove with our wallets and QUIT PLAYING THEIR AWESOME GAMES if we don't like their business practices, you freak.
Please note: Liberal use of sarcasm.
MusedMoose Jan 6th 2010 9:22PM
HELP! The paranoids are out to get me!
Mattc013 Jan 6th 2010 9:48PM
I think they should make dance studios drop off of the final boos in oculus, then maybe people would run it.
Mattc013 Jan 6th 2010 10:18PM
*boss*
damn it's hard to type on an iPhone on a yacht
Nazgûl Jan 6th 2010 10:25PM
I love the "Please note: Liberal use of sarcasm." It was almost as sarcastic as the post preceding it.
Bananacup Jan 7th 2010 12:30AM
How is all this nice new content "bells and whistles"? If anything, a dance studio would be a waste of production time.
And i'm still convinced that the dance party was a freaking joke. Noone has even bothered to convince me otherwise.
