WoW.com is looking for a Shaman columnist

Our very own Michael Sacco, who has recently been promoted to Editor here as well as taking over the reins of the WoW Insider Show podcast, will be writing a weekly elemental shaman installment of Totem Talk. That leaves us with the need for an restoration/enhancement shaman columnist, with a particularly strong background in the healing aspect. If that's you and you want to get paid to write about your favorite class, follow the directions listed on our application page. You have until end of day Friday, January 15th to apply.
We are no longer accepting applications. We are currently reviewing the hundreds that have poured in. I will update this post when we have selected our new columnists. Thanks!

This is great news as one of my fav characters is an elemental shaman. Maybe I haven't looked hard enough but it seems that there are few resources/blogs on elementals that are current. Good luck to you, Sacco, look forward to reading something more than: FS, LvB, LB LB LB LB repeat or is that the first aticle :)

Wow much more columners! I am real proud of your growth. All grows up.

one last thing. . .
Hey, Sacco. How do you HURL bolts of lightning?
sorry couldn't help myself.

Eat too many Tesla coils.

Although my shaman experience is fairly limited, I would think that enhancement and restoration are the least similar of the three shaman specs. Why were those two bunched together?
Michael Sacco Jan 6th 2010 5:27PM
To put it into perspective, the column used to cover all three specs, so this is 33% easier for whoever the new guy is.

I suppose, but it seems to me like there would be more overlap between elemental and restoration (both require spellpower gear, both focus on casting rather than melee) than there would be between enhancement and restoration, and thus that would mean less work for the new guy and more equal amounts of work for both of you. Were you just dead set on writing about elemental because you loves it that much? :-)

Maybe ;)

I play an enhancement/resto shammy, and I love the differences. I didn't want to go elemental, because after healing raids 99% of the time, sometimes I just need to hit something ;)

As an enhancement shaman I am appalled that the enhancement tree is getting this kind of treatment. Appalled I said!
Hey, enhancement is far more complex than its given credit to and its probably a runner up for the most fun spec to play. Why are you going at it as if it were the little tree that no one wanted?
Well, rant over... hope we get some new columnist that can keep up the quality work already going.
Michael Sacco Jan 6th 2010 5:29PM
Put plainly, Resto has been the most underrepresented of the three specs in Totem Talk, so all we're trying to do is make sure that whoever takes up the torch has a solid background in healing. Enhancement isn't less important by any means -- we've just had a lot more enhancement coverage previously.

No! Give me back my Rossi! D:
I've never posted on Totem Talk, but as a shaman main, I do (did?) read it. So, I'd like to say: thanks, Mr. Rossi, for all the good shammytimes. I'm enhancement, and you seemed to enjoy that spec just as much as I did; having someone just enthusiastic as I am about the class made the column a really fun read. I hope you enjoy focusing on your warrior column and those mysterious "other writing duties" (which I will be keeping a close eye on, by the way).

I currently play a resto/enhancement shaman, and it is the most fun I have had in the game in a long time. The only bad thing about playing that combination of specs is that I have to keep two completely sets of gear in my bags at all times.
I know a fair amount about resto, even though I only started months ago. I have done alot of research, and talked with alot of other resto shamen before jumping into it. I would consider applying, but I feel like I would be trumped by others with more experince.

Well Blizzard effectively killed Elemental in this expansion so there really is not a good reason to write about it till the next expansion anyways.
Arbitor Jan 6th 2010 6:31PM
Ok, your right, silly wow.com.
Arbitor Jan 6th 2010 6:31PM
This is really weird timing considering I just started a shaman.
Zwwel Jan 7th 2010 5:17AM
You're hired!
Arbitor Jan 9th 2010 6:55AM
I quit the shaman already, just can't get behind the idea of a space-goat.
Yeah their curvy, but they just look weeeeeeiiiiiiirrrrd.
Ah well, back to mah sexy belf rogue. ^_^

I cannot say I know much about shamanism, but I have become recently inspired to apply as a lore columnist. As they say, if you can't beat them, join them.

YES!!! Though I'll miss Rossi and also agree we need a column for every spec I'm glad to have at least double the content.
As my (new main) Shaman approaches 80 I have been Restoration-ing 5-mans and Enhancement-ing quests. I'm having a blast but my enhancement set is falling behind because I don't have the balls and/or time-to-explain-in-party to roll need on my off spec.
So I'm debating whether I should replace Enhancement with Elemental and share more gear or just get better at Enhancement and start running it in 5-mans as well.
More writers means more chance of these types of questions getting answered.
Thank you wow.com!
