Several people have told us via our feedback page that they have received theirWorld of Warcraft Official Magazine in the mail. Last month, we got to see the preview and now many subscribers already have them in hand.
The WoW Magazine is a quarterly publication that is available via subscription only. U.S. subscriptions begin at $39.95 for a year and subscriptions are available to other countries at different rates. Our tipsters have described the magazine as having a graphic novel feel to them.

I subscribed to this back when it was first announced. Were we billed then? Otherwise, I have not the funds for this now. I don't recall if it was deducted or not back when I signed up for a sub.
Sadaye Jan 7th 2010 7:25PM
IIRC, we were charged at the time we subscribed.

Got my magazine today! Beautiful color, very high quality, and as promised there's absolutely no ads, just 100% pure WoW content.
A++, would recommend you subscribe.

Checking this article made me check my physical mail, and it is indeed here! It's about 140 pages, all similar in detail and color and whatnot to the preview we saw. Looks pretty good!

Oh wooooooohoooO! Awesome. I love Blizzard art work. This is going to be fantastic! I don't recall if I got a confirmation in the mail back then,... hmmmm.
While the articles should prove to be about the same as the many internet sites dedicated to this subject, I just get a nice high off of the smell of new print, and glossy gorgeous color schemes. Geek out!

Urgh fraid i have to be a bit of a spoilsport and ask, what is the point? Is there actually anything in this mag that is not already done on this site?
I would be willing to put a bet on and say anything in the mag has already been written about on wow.com.
Though saying that I subscribe to a photojournalism mag that costs a crap load, I could probably find the same content online, but it isn't really the same as having it in print.
I'd be interested to know what the content is like, do they have any exploits so my 10 man crew can one shot putrcide?

At the very least any and every bit of juicy information that may have slipped by but made it into the magazine, will be posted somewhere, by someone shortly. That's the whole reason I'm not getting it, everything makes it onto the internet so...no point in paying so much for the magazine.

The same reason anyone buys anything-- they want it. It's got a collectible feel to it I think, I assume that's why most people are getting it. It's certainly not for news since it's on a quarterly basis.

Mine arrived today. Woot! I haven't read it all yet, but it's pretty impressive so far.
Xancas Jan 7th 2010 7:53PM
got mine two days ago...though the news is a little dated, the articles are well done, the artwork is amazing and the magazine is over-all high quality. i am hoping they do more strategies and hopefully get some exclusive stuff on the upcoming catacysm.
Leviathon Jan 7th 2010 7:55PM
The articles wouldn't be as dated if the magazine didn't get delayed and in future copies the info will likely be more exclusive.

Well I obtained my copy two days ago. The width of the magazine reminds me of a Newtype magazine but of course thinner and of smaller height. The paper stock is of good quality and the cover overlaps both the front and the back. They included a pull out folded poster inside the middle of the publication of the same art work.
The on line preview does give an general preview of what is in the magazine. You have several pages which cover changes that are occurring with Cataclysm. Interview with Mike Morhaime. Coverage of non combat pets in game. An interview with Brian Brolin "Breanni" as well as some input from other players interviewed about their pets. Discussion of Ice Crown Citadel as well as the Isle of Conquest, followed by articles of the trading card game competive play as well as Arena play. Heroic Prints got some attention with an article covering the posters they can produce for each individual character. As a fan of character goods I liked the insight the article gave on how these came about.
There is a guide to the Coliseum providing history and play strategies for both faction versions of Trial 5, 10 and 25 man. I am interested in the Healer UI article that follows, but have not read it as of yet. I thought it nice they included a UI article however.
The last few pages cover the 5th anniversary of WOW and as per the preview has a time line of events during those five years. Ony is covered as is a small segment on the foundation of the viral Ony video animation most of us have seen on the web.
There is a guide to Arathi Basin, an introduction to Scourgewar, the articles on Tanking, DPS, and Healing, which were seen in the preview (and yes I agree the rogue dps article sadly got outdated with the changes in the patch but not much you can do about it being printed material).
The Fan Art section was very good yet quite small. One of the reason I wanted this magazine was the "unique" art that was to be included. It is my hope that this will be expanded upon as the publication matures.
There are of course some things I skipped and I don't regret my subscription to this magazine. I like having a physical publication I can share with others and I do like the quality of the images. I found the articles to be more accurate then other printed coverage of the game. I recall this PC Gamer publication which was about $8 and much thinner with ads. It was a one shot and I had considered obtaining it however many of the articles were sorely out of date and inaccurate. An example of this was coverage of Warsong Gulch describing it as a 15man battleground. The print quality in this magazine is far superior and enjoyable.

Mine just arrived. I haven't had a chance to READ it yet but I did get to flip through it. It's very shiny.

Dead tree publishing.
Apparently the 21C is going to pass Blizzard by. No excuse for such a wasteful process, when the whole thing was conceived electronically. Put it on the web.
