Man forced to choose between his wife and his orc

Much to the dismay of geeks everywhere, Cushnie's wife Dee wasn't comfortable sharing her home with a green-skinned orc and threatened to move back to her Canadian homeland if her husband didn't ditch the Horde Warchief. His wife reportedly said that there was "no room for (the orc) in our life," and Cushnie prudently chose Dee, whom he married in February 2009, over the huge statue. "I just don't like it," Dee said, "I'm only 5ft 3in, so it towers over me, which is quite creepy."
The statue was adopted by a couple in Aberdeen, Michael Thomson, 61, and his wife, Patricia, 55, who report that their 16-year old granddaughter is thrilled with the acquisition. "We wanted him because he's so unusual," said Patricia. Robert and Dee will move to Canada later this month sans the orc. "I'll miss him," Cushnie said, "but I'm glad he's gone to a good home." As this little episode proves, not even the most badass orc can mess with marital bliss!

they fact this guy's "wife" could not accept something he was apparently into appalls me
what happened to "for richer or poorer" "till death do us..."
a person who can get married knowing it exists, then hold that over their head is amazing to me.
currently, my wife is glaring at me for reacting so strongly to this, but she accepts me and the things i enjoy, that's part of marriage.

"for richer or poorer, for better or worse, for orc or no orc"
Deadly. Off. Topic. Jan 8th 2010 2:21PM
I agree with this. You marry the person accepting who they are, you don't marry them to change them.
michaeljmoore Jan 8th 2010 4:43PM
What about him respecting what she's into. She's into a home that looks a certain way. Orc not included. I see no reason why his desire, "having an orc" should take priority or her desire, "not having an orc".

@MichaelJMoore
You can't see the reason because you're an idiot. And probably a feminist. And a racist.
Orc hater! Go back to your hovel, gnome!

I just hope the marriage will last and that he didn't get rid of his friend for nothing...
Chedder Jan 8th 2010 1:09PM
She better not be putting doilies and girl crap all over the house now. Daymn. What a *****
lol red ranger Jan 9th 2010 6:40AM
You're all missing the point, with her forcing him (he does wanna stay married don't he?) to give up the orc, he can hold this over her from now on!
"Will you get off that damn pc and help me look at a new wallpaper for the dining room?"
"YOU TOOK AWAY MY FRIEND!!"

Aurix Jan 8th 2010 1:23PM
Orc, not troll. ;)
(cutaia) Jan 8th 2010 2:11PM
Well, why IS it news? Lemme know when Thrall is trapped in a homemade balloon over Colorado.

He got the Statue years before he married this woman, and she expects him to drop the statue? Didn't she notice he had the statue when she started dating him? This is so unfair, her treating him like that.
dukrous Jan 8th 2010 1:41PM
Agreed. She had to know it was there when she started dating him. She's a plain bitch.

I find it funny that the new owners live in Aberdeen. Correct me if I'm wrong, but last I checked that was a Night Elf village on the mainland near Darnassus. They must want to hold him hostage. /bad pun

Auberdine....close but still fail.

Two thoughts come to mind here:
1) I can understand disliking something of your signifigant other's so much that you try to convince them to get rid of it. To suggest that such a thing is worth ending a marriage over, though, only indicates that either the marriage was weak in the first place or that her priorities are completely mixed up.
2) Who the hell calls a news agency about something like this? "Excuse me...I have to find the number for USAToday: My fiancee doesn't ever do the laundry and it's totally newsworthy."
macster Jan 8th 2010 1:34PM
1) Not much happens in Aberdeen.
2) It wouldn't be front-page news. Probably about page 10-12.

Wife's a bitch. I'd never do anything like that to my boyfriend/husband/whatever I wind up with.
Also, I'm only 5'3", I'd LOVE to have a giant orc statue! :D
Zalvi24 Jan 8th 2010 1:59PM
i bet the wife would had bitch about a gnome statue too, cause you know, something smaller than her would had creep her out too
