TCG art contest winners announced

Winners were announced last December 18, 2009, with Blizzard apparently selecting the best entries according to language. Five winners were selected, with J. Hoermandinger winning the top prize for English submissions with the Boo'Yah "Brickhead" card; D. Klenk was the German winner with Shilanya; S. Mariez won the French top prize with Perséphia Tristombe; A. Fuentes Garcia was the Spanish winner with Nairies; and A. Kirsanova won the Russian prize with a thankfully nameless but awesome-looking card (Cyrillic would be a little troublesome to jot down here).
The contest awarded a veritable Upper Deck treasure trove that included a Death Knight deluxe starter kit, a World of Warcraft miniatures game starter kit and booster pack, and the ScourgeWar epic collection which has the Tiny loot card. The loot card enables Horde characters to mount a miniature raptor and Alliance characters to ride a miniature pony to move at unmounted speed. Congratulations to the all the winners! For those of you who missed out on the fun, you can always make your own TCG cards by downloading their Horde or Alliance templates. Enjoy!

Very nice, to bad I only understand the english one though.

I know.
Though the English one is the coolest in my opinion and not because it's the only one legible to me either =P

The English one has by far the highest quality art. I do like the style of the French one though, and the Russian is decent. The German one is pretty bad, though, and the Spanish one just sucks, imo.
Also interesting is that all are female except one, and all are Alliance except for one, and there's a coincidence there.

Double posting to say that after looking at the cards again the Russian one is actually very good, better than I thought originally. Also, I may be overestimating the French one because I like female warlocks.
Don't you judge me. Don't you dare judge me.

Russian one talks about how the night elf rogue makes horde look into the sky with terror, because she is a brilliant engineer and made wings, allowing her to fly silently in the darkness

^ pure win

Huh. I can't get the site to show me the cards. I've tried it in both Firefox and IE.

The title of the popup window for the Russian card is "Yvette Bronzewing," so I assume that would be the card's name.
Beautiful art on all the winners... but the Russian one is my favorite. :)

English one is the best imo...even though I have no love for trolls or warriors the artistic style is the best. The French one is 2nd place, and would have been first if it wasn't for that unfortunate anime style the artist chose.

Why does the english card say "illustration by Josef von Stahl 2009" on it?
Tokkar Jan 8th 2010 11:55PM
I'm guessing that Blizzard used a generic card template to feature the picture, but regrettably didn't pay it enough attention to remove the artist's name from the card they used. There is no illustration information on any of the others, so that's just my thoughts on it...
...either that, or they selected someone who's English from a previous entry so as to keep it English-only. You know how racist they are. I mean, after all, Blizzard fakes all their hacks to get people to buy their authenticators! Really! Honest! "Devilsei" even has the low-down on it here: http://www.wow.com/2010/01/08/blizzard-giving-serious-consideration-to-mandatory-authenticator/comments/24530399/ <snerk> (Sorry, I couldn't resist.)

Thanks for the reply. I thought it might be something like that, but I'm not that familiar with the tcg, so I wasn't sure.
Also, great link :D. Everybody knows that Blizzard sells their own gold, and that gold farmers hacking our accounts is just an elaborate cover up... /facepalm

"Europe gets some of the best contests"
I'm terribly sorry to be the local whiner of this post, but really, have you checked the American-to-European advantages and disadvantages?
Americans get patches a few days faster than Europe.
Americans get features (character transfer etc) a few days (or weeks) faster than Europe.
Almost all blue posts are found on the American forum.
9 out of 10 unofficial WoW-relatred contests have their prizes restricted to America.
I personally got over it: America is just a better place for a WoW player than Europe. It's a fact, I got used to it, I can live with it. But still, when we get once every 10 contests an Europe-exclusive contest and I hear an American blogger actually observing it with the statement "Europe gets some of the coolest contests", which could be continued by "I am no longer satisfied with the other 12 contests running in my country, I want this one", I really couldn't keep myself from QQing a bit.
Let the American downrating begin.

And Canadians get shafted all-throughout. Yay us.
