We had a great time on the WoW Insider Show podcast this week, where my co-host Matt Rossi and I were visited by guest hosts and former WoW Idol winners Daryl Brewer and Fatty. We answered your emails live (Rossi predictably talked forever about choice of tanks for one reader, while Fatty and Daryl weighed in on what they don't want to see in Cataclysm), shouted out to the chat channel, and (of course) talked about WoW.com's top stories of the week. Eventually.
A special thanks to Daryl and Fatty for being on the show this week -- you can check out Daryl's music on his Last.fm page, and for fans of Fatty, you can grab her "Daily Heroic" EP on iTunes and CDBaby for under five bucks, or check out the rest of her work at thesixtyone.com/fatty.

Well I guess it was inevitable, Mike and Turp leave and the show goes downhill fast.
Having said that; please please please, never have that woman on the show ever again. Never once did I hear anything remotely intelligent come out of her lips. When she began to rap, it was a race between whether my ears were going to bleed before my headphones shorted out. Having never heard the song that won her the WoW Idol competition, I can only assume it was studio enhanced like so many singers nowadays. Her impromptu attempt was so off-tune, it reminded me of the time my cat was in heat.
While it's obvious her music isn't your cup of tea, I don't think it's fair to just discount her talent.
I worked professionally in music and theater for a bit. I know what talent is -- she has it. I'm glad we had her on, and look forward to having her back for a visit in the future sometime.
It take a lot of guts to stand up there (even hidden by the internet) and perform. Even 'professional' artists don't do that, just (badly) lipsync. Perhaps when you know what you are talking about your comments may have meaning, until then you are just trollbait... However if your ears do bleed, you know where the stop button is, you know how to fast forward...
Fatty has talent. you however, are an anonymous person on the internet. Ofcourse you would insult. You have no idea how many downrate's you are going to receive.
Why is it so many of the comments on wow.com's posts are downrated?
Get out, you have no idea what you're talking about. How can one possibly be out of tune while rapping a capella. The woman has talent, pure and simple, no amount of butthurt and personal, subjective preference portrayed as fact by you is going to change that, 'Powerkeeper'.
A) Like her music or not, she's a smart lady and an extremely talented musician. Coming up with any music impromptu is quite hard on it's own, let alone an awesome one like she had. B) Personally, I found her and her opinions quite intelligent...what specific opinions did you find unintelligent, and why were they unintelligent? C) Sometimes the podcast has guests on that I'm not a fan of...even if I don't like them, others do. So why should WoW.com put your wishes over those of the other listeners that enjoyed having her on (i.e. myself)?
O look at the sexist bigot come to feed the cesspool of idiots of the WoW Community. Oy, I hate to say it but Adam is right for once, she does have talent. If you can't understand that then you are clearly unfit to judge music in any standard, let alone provide your own misguided and incorrect opinions on the subject. What? Opinions can't be incorrect? Blasphemy! The OP is clearly showing evidence of the opposite. Two tips, if ya don't like something, just say it and move on, two, skip step one and just don't post. Have a nice day.
I'm liking the new show format these days - I'd stopped listening a few months ago because I felt like things were getting a little stale. Not wanting to put down Mike and The T, who came up with a great show, but eventually you get too familiar with the format.
New presenters? Yes, please. Guests from the WoW community? Yes, please. Raiding and tanking talk? Yes, please.
I completely agree that levelling a warrior is much Much easier than it used to be. I had a tauren up to 24 and i couldn't bear to level him any more. Once i changed servers and tried a year later, i had a couple heirloom items and victory rush comes into play earlier...the dps is so much better.
I thought that both guests were excellent, they really added a lot to the show and maybe most importantly, they didn't allow themselves to get drowned out by the hosts as some guests have been in the past.
I thought that Fatty was great and I'm definitely going to look up her back catalogue to search for more gems like her a capella rap. Brewer felt like a long-time guest, he was really comfortable with the format and had some great views on WoW.
Please don't take me as some sort of WoW Insider show apologist, I was worried when Mike and Turpster left the show but the new format is really great, much less constricted (for lack of a better word) than the previous incarnation. Hopefully the show will keep attracting diverse guests... oh hai hot-girl-from-the-tankspot-vids!
Just finished listening and I have to say that was probably the best show since Mike and Turpster left. I loved the lore discussion and Fatty was great. Anybody that plays a Gnome automatically gets a decent amount of respect from me starting out and it only got better from there.
I haven't listened to this week's show yet [I listen while commuting] but I'd just like to add that since Mr Sacco took over this podcast it's become the podcast I look forward to the most each week, and the only one that goes straight to my music player as soon as I see it updated.
As an older player (46) I really enjoyed Mikes maturity and how it tempered Turpsters off-the-wallness for the most part. Mike was able to keep things on track, allowed shenanigans when it was called for but kept tight hold of the reigns. You need to beat Rossi with a stick occasionally (figuratively of course) and remind him that he chooses to play this game (and pay for it) as he supposedly enjoys it and so do most of the people who listen to the show. Blizz bashing or noob taunting is far to easy.
Oh, my comments were made during me listening to the last show, I've not heard the latest but look forward to hearing the rap now.
I have to agree. I think the worst thing that happened to the WoW insider was losing Mike and Turp. This new duo just seems like uber geeks geeking out. At least Mike and Turp seemed like normal people with normal lives who just happened to really like playing WoW. These guys seem like the only thing they do or care about is WoW, and that's just depressing.
These guys might make good authors, but they're horrible podcast peeps given the fact that they just don't have very interesting personalities... at least not that come across on the air. If Schram and Turpster are gone for good, that's fine. But let's not keep the WoW Insider with these guys. They just don't measure up in the least.
Color me unsubscribed to the Podcast from here on it. Way to kill a great thing. -Adam Runika, 80 Troll Mage, Dark Iron,
Sacco, I think you're doing a great job and think the podcast could continue getting better. But Rossi's constant digressions and unfunny (to me) stories really take away from the show.
I get it. He's a tank. Probably a great tank. However, I don't need to hear for the eleventieth time another story about the World of Being Rossi. Really? People dropped group in Oculus? Gee that's new. Really? You know what you're doing? That's great. Can we move on now?
When he's talking lore or mechanics I think he's quite good and actually really enjoy his writing, but it doesn't translate to the podcast in my opinion. OP is right, he needs to be muzzled a bit. Turpster used to go off the rails sometimes but Mike did a decent job of reigning him in and at least Turpster was naturally funny.
Fatty was, in my opinion, awful. I don't think she's untalented per se, just not all that great to listen to. Glad she has fans, I'm not one of them.

The show was ok, if a bit directionless at times.

you are sooo going to get downrated

Someone please muzzle Rossi.
The big difference between Mike and Turp and the new crew, apart from the obvious professionalism, is that they seemed to actually enjoy the game.
Michael Sacco Jan 11th 2010 3:39PM
Not being snarky -- can you clarify what you mean? If you feel there's a weak point in the show, I'm more than happy to listen to feedback.
