Around Azeroth: Waistline envy
In the news today: A study from Oxford University reports that fat stored in the buttocks and thighs is healthier than fat stored in the abdomen, since the lower body fat produces several disease-fighting hormones. Perhaps this helps explain why the curvier Lady Sylvanas has managed to live so long, while regular skinny undead seem to die at an alarmingly fast rate. Erogüro of <Queens of the Pwn Age> on Suramar paused to admire the Lady's trim waistline during a recent Halls of Reflection run.
Do you have any unusual, beautiful or interesting World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see them on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word "Azeroth" in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, Val'kyr on mounts, or pictures of the Ninja Turtles in Dalaran. Older screenshots can be found here.

The first thing I thought of when I saw this as the thumbnail was, "You're not actually going to raid in THAT, are you?!?"
Seeing it even larger?
Disturbing, actually! LOL!!!
Great shot!

I LOLed when i saw this one.

First thing I thought was:
"You have nothing to complain about! You're not even skin and bones... Just bones!"
Monsoon Jan 13th 2010 10:40AM
I really wish the Forsaken player characters looked more like that. The bones sticking out, even when they should be covered by sleeves and whatnot, are part of what turns me away from playing a Forsaken character. That and their whole "Let's make a plague that will destroy every living thing" schtick.

There's something about Undead toons I really enjoy. Unlike an Orc who's shoulder gear is larger than their head; gear on Undead just "fits."

I'm one of those people who never really got into playing a Horde character until Burning Crusade came along, with its good-looking Blood Elf women. Now I have 10 characters on Muradin (one of each class), six of which are Blood Elves (the only belf class I don't have is a Priest, and that's my Draenei). My Orc Warrior is level 20, and I'm debating whether I should spring for a race change once Cataclysm comes along and we can have Blood Elf Warriors, or just delete the character and roll a new one (it probably won't take long to get a new Warrior to 20 at that point).

Yeah, see, that's.. that's actually a reason why many people play Horde.
They dig the monstrous look. They love their huge shouldered Orcs, with those large fangs, and the hulking form. They love their large Tauren who stand high above pretty much everyone. They love their Skeletal Warlocks who truly embody what they are...
To me that, too, was the draw of the Horde. Every damn game has the sexy/nice/normal looking races. With the Horde, you're able to play the guys who don't appeal to the beauty standard (as much as that is possible with a game).
But then, I always opted out playing Skeletor over He-Man as I was a kid. That skeletal face was just too cool.

This brightened up my afternoon.
Also may you recieve many cookie baring kittens for the guild name.
MightyBurebista Jan 13th 2010 12:50PM
I concur, although the player's name itself fails in a significant way. -_-

I have a random question. Does anybody know how to change the ogre icon I post with? I have a great pic of my DK I'd like to put up.
Also - I wish Belf females looked like Sylvanas. I'm so sick of running around looking like I'll collapse from hunger at any second. It's unnerving even more so because my Belf is a tank. Makes me go "LOLWAT .-."
Hoggersbud Jan 13th 2010 12:34PM
Yes.
There is an article on the site about it, but the short and simple explanation:
Put your picture up somewhere that Wow.com can access it, such as imageshack or I dunno, flickr.
Select your account name, log in if you're not already, and look for the edit picture option or whatever it's called.
It may take a few posts for it to register the change though.

For those who didn't come into the game until the past year.
Sylvanas used to use a Night Elf model. They upgraded her, and the first model they used (before it was released) was a Blood Elf with red eyes. It used the same Blood Elf animations, and was terrible. If they changed Blood Elves to use her model, then her model wouldn't be semi-unique anymore.

Still doesn't explain why abominations are so hearty. Those things rival Maruadon's Princess for chunky, yet they're nigh impossible to kill. Maybe we should try force feeding them more and see if we can get a "heart disease" debuff. I'm sure there's a few expendable gnomes around here somewhere...
Drakkenfyre Jan 13th 2010 2:53PM
You don't understand why they are so large?
Maybe you should read how they are made.

Hearty, as in very healthy and strong, which is in contrast to their obese nature. I'm also explaining a joke, which means it is officially dead.
Drakkenfyre Jan 13th 2010 4:22PM
I read too fast, I thought you were wondering why they were so big. Reading it again, I realized that wasn't what you were asking. Granted, the link still explains why they are so durable.

Lady Sylvanas > Jaina Proudmore
I am Alliance, but wish I was running dungeons with Sylvanas
MightyBurebista Jan 13th 2010 12:51PM
Judging by how she berates her underlings during said dungeon runs, one needs somewhat of a masochistic streak to enjoy running dungeons with that skeletal broad...
fromtheboxofweasel@gmail.com Jan 13th 2010 7:22PM
Sylvanas is nice enough to your group I suppose. Excluding their CHARACTER, I'd take Jaina. You've clearly never heard Sylvanas after that plastic surgery on her voicebox...she has this weird way of speaking now.
Krick: Don't kill, please! I'll tell you everything!
Sylvanas: Hwhy (huh-why) should the BanSHEE kuh-ween spare your mis-ER-UH-bull life? I think we shall keel you and mix your reMAINS to a froth similar to that of coo-hwip!
Krick: NOOOoo...wait, say that again...
Sylvanas: Coo-hwip.
Krick: Why you sayin it like that?
Sylvanas: Sayin it like what? I'm saying your remains shall be coo-hwip...coo-hwip shall be similar to yore remains!!
Krick: Say "cool..."
Sylvanas: Cool.
Krick: Now say "whip."
Sylvanas: Whip.
Krick: Cool whip.
Sylvanas: Coo-hwip.
Krick: COOL whip.
Sylvanas: Coo-hwip.
Krick: COOL WHIP!
Sylvanas: Coo-hwip.
