I had three attempts at the FLG for my 2 x Frost emblems before I got a group that could run.First group the Paladin had a tank spec but al dps gear (mostly blue) and 23k HP.The second Group had a druid with no DPS spec, and healing gear gemmed with stam gems. Both times I told the tanks off, put them on ignore and dropped group.Neither time did they volunteer to leave.I actually think this is becoming an issue that needs to be addressed in how the LFG finds tanks and healers (have had no problems with healers so far).in 70 - 80 LFG you regularly get dps paladins / DK's signing as tanks with no concept of what they are doing. My Shaman who is duel Ele / Resto has a tough time keeping them up and If I didn't have healing as an offspec we were done. It's very selfish play, and needs to be looked at and patched soon before it gets out of hand (has been getting notably worse since LFG was introduced).Just remember - addignore people doing this, it stops u from getting them again.

Worth noting that I started tanking heroics (as a warrior) in mostly blue gear with around 22k HP and did fine. People have been doing that since LK was released. Yeah, it's not necessarily a lolwalk and I wouldn't have done it in one of the harder instances, but you can totally tank something like VH or UK as an entry-level tank.

I don't disagree with you and I think it's somewhat unfair that DPS can show up in any gear whilst there are expectations for the Tank, however the tank is a pivotal role and ultimately requires higher standards.More important though, is that people show up in decent gear with high stamina but virutally no mitigation (as was the case in my OP).I started tanking heroics on my Paladin when I hit 28k HP and 353 Defence which can be achieved through craftables, gemming and blue normal gear. My threat wasn't ideal but I could tank effectivly. My comments and I think sentiments in general are directed at people who have no desire to tank an instance, yet persist in attempting to do so with no experience and massivly sub par gear. This needs to be corrected and regulated by the LFG interface.

To some extent that's why the vote to kick option is there.. it's just too bad you have to wait 10 min or whatever to do it. If someone is doing this you should be able to kick them immediately. The waiting period is no doubt there to keep people from abusing it but they should think about reducing it drastically. If you have to kick the tank you're out those 10 min plus at least another 15 waiting for a new one.Still like it better than Blizz trying to come up with some system that rates a spec to decide it's good enough to tanking. And that still doesn't guarantee that the jerk you get in the group won't switch to his DPS gear and spec once he gets in.

I'm always bothered by comments like this as I'm currently working on gearing myself up to start tanking heroics... easy ones first, obviously.I've been told that I need about 22k health, about 22k armor, Def capped and about 32% parry+dodge. Is this not the case? This is what I am aiming for following a very well-written guide. Trying to balance these requirements with threat.I don't want to be kicked from the group because I'm just starting, and I definitely don't want people to think I'm a tool for trying. Gotta remedy this tank shortage somehow so we don't have to deal with these people ruining everyone's good time.
