As a tank I feel I should point out that it works both ways. My main example is dps starting before I have even touched a mob and get annoyed when they start getting hit in the face... that's my job, let me do it.

True. My solution to that problem is only to taunt off the healer unless a mispull is my fault. The DPS either tanks or learns. Either way, we get it done.

I used to start runs by saying "I am the person standing between you and your repair bill." Thinking about it, I should start that habit again.

@katkingman I like that....I like it a lot. I think I'm going to steal it to put it into my "buff" macro. I attached it to my Gift of the Wild spell to make sure it always gets said at the start of each instance :)

This. I am a new 80 dk frost tank. I have three epics, one being t9. I am defense capped for heroics (538). I was just in a hc UP (that the random tool put me in) and the dps started on mobs I didn't even have targetted when I death gripped the first caster. And they wondered why they died. Heroics are tuned for tanks with 24k HP and DPS putting out 1.5-2k dps. Tanks with 50k and DPS with 6k throw the balance far out.
