I really dont see the appeal of world bosses. Does it add flavor? Sure. Its somethin that you know will kill you if you run into it alone at night, but is it necessary? Even in your article you point out the most obvious flaw (though seem to make it out to be a positive), world bosses basically invite people to grief you. It could be the opposin faction, it could be your own faction, doesnt matter. Almost without fail someone is goin to grief you unless you get godly lucky and dodge anyone who would try.Even beyond that, how do you decide what they drop? In a loot driven game the incentive has to match the effort. Either the loot is goin to have to be equal or even better than gear people can get elsewhere or only a few token people will run it. If its the former then you make the griefin problem even worse because now theres actually incentive to be the first to down the boss. If its the latter then what would be the point of spendin any man hours creatin it?
