Free character migrations for select realms

What's interesting is that in a few of these instances, they're only extended the offer to Horde players. These servers include Illidan, Mal'Ganis, and Warsong. Considering Mal'Ganis is home to the infamous Goon Squad, this isn't the most surprising thing in the world. Interesting, yes. Surprising? Not in the slightest.

They are for overpopulated servers. Unless you have a European server that is overpopulated, then no.

Yeah, I envision that realm as something akin to a zombie movie. You’ve got all these gnomes, humans, and elves being overrun by undead and howling orcs, climbing to the top of Stormwind castle, waving their hands frantically at the Blizzard aircraft overhead in a futile hope for salvation.
It is only when the cityscape begins exploding around them that they realize this is not a rescue mission. The realm is lost. Blizzard’s just trying to contain all the uber hordeness before it becomes a worldwide epidemic.
God help us all.

Trying to pry people out of RP realms just by offering free transfers just isn't going to happen. RP is very community and socially oriented, and you're essentially asking someone to leave people behind. Perhaps some people get tired of lag, login queues, or are ostracized by everyone at large, but it's never enough to get meaningful numbers to move. Nor will it ever be enough. Moonguard will almost always be on that list for server transfers.

I'd like to see non RPers take up an offer of free transfer off of RP realms. It's rediculous how RPers are the minority on an RP realm and are mocked by everyone else for doing what they're supposed to be doing.

The problem is that people keep GOING to that server. I'm on Sisters of Elune, and I lost 2 guilds because of the rumors of the golden streets and chocolate trees of Moon Guard caused them to just disband and perform a mass exodus.

Well, Moonguard is my server, but I'm quite happy there....soooo I'm staying.
However, maybe this is an attempt to balance the PVP battlegrounds? That seems likely, anyway, considering most major changes (aside from expansions) have a PVP tie-in.

For the Moon Guard -> Farstriders one, it won't do anything to BGs as they're in the same battlegroup. The other set does have some cross-battlegroup ones in it, though.

It's Moonguard's population, that server is almost continually high or full in population, so they're trying to even out the load a good bit by getting folks onto Farstriders.

Farstriders barely hits Medium pop during the busiest hours, so an influx of new blood would be good. It's a fairly low-key server at the moment. Not too many jerks, but the low pop can make it difficult to find raids or rare items.

Sending a bunch of PvP-ers to RP realms. Does anyone else see something inherently wrong with this situation?
And what about a few of the realms that fluctuate from being High to Full and back again on a regular basis - why haven't they been given free transfers? I would love to transfer my main to a lower-pop server, but I'm not that keen on shelling out $30.00 to do it.
(shrug)
More weirdness from the mind of Blizzard. I guess it's just status quo, but...meh. Oh well.

Ignore that.
The first caffeine molecule just hit my brain and I saw the PvP source to PvP destination thingy and it finally clicked.
As for the last part of it, though - high pop servers getting no love - meh. Whatever. :-{

FWIW, it's $25 for a server transfer. It's faction transfers that are $30. ($55 for both.)
