The server I play on has an epidemic infestation of discipline priests, most of them insist they tank heal and nothing else, and will cry bloody murder if asked to do anything else. I've been a guest in a raid where there were three disc priests, all of whom wanted to tank heal and refused to raid heal. When they brought in a fourth, the raid leader (a disc) asked the lone holy paladin (who can only heal 1-2 targets at a time) to raid heal. After wiping enough on faction champions I switched to my resto shaman to group heal because four discs refusing to raid heal and a healadin just weren't cutting it.I do like that you've addressed the raid healing side of things, it's something that needed to be done and really heavily emphasized, but you're still hyping disc. Disc has been hyped more than a mac in a mac vs pc commercial and it's a bit annoying. As a healing lead, I won't take more than one disc priest to a raid and often request our one disc priest to go holy due to having enough non-priest tank healers.A bad discipline priest is less useful than a bad holy priest, at least a bad holy priest can tap circle of healing to help keep 5-6 members the raid up every six seconds while a bad disc priest goes "I won't raid heal, I'm a tank healer" when what we really need is a raid healer. And they ignore their assignment and step on the toes of the two holy paladins who already have the tanks covered.

The silly thing ate my last paragraph. If for some outlandish reason you want to use two discs in raid (why would you do this?) you can make things easier by having them set grid to display the weakened soul debuff. I've set my grid to display weakened soul as a green border around people's little heath squares. This lets me watch our token disc priest bubble (she seems to keep falling back to gheal spam). This can let two discs not step on each others toes. It's neat to see the entire grid of people's borders turn green on Anub25.

It sounds like you have an infestation of bad Disc priests. It's too bad that Discipline got trendy, because it really is a very effective healing spec. Unfortunately, I feel like there are an awful lot of priests who went to Elitist Jerks at the beginning of Wrath, read "hey disc priests can be tank healerz now lol", and never bothered to check back.As for multiple Disc priests - it's true that Renewed Hope doesn't overlap, but otherwise there's no reason not to have multiples. It's kind of like saying "why have multiple shamans? we can only have one Heroism/Bloodlust up at once." More than one Disc priest means more than one Pain Suppression, more than one Power Infusion, more than one Penance - and, I'm sure, many other things that start with P. There's no real reason not to except the Disc priests' insistence that they can't do anything but tank heal.
