I honestly agree with that statement on Primordial saronite.
Someone I recently ran a rep-grind with had the beginning weapon given to you from the Shadowmourne quest, yet when I mentioned the primordial saronite part, he told me he only obtained 4 throughout his guild farming ICC 25. That leaves 21 saronites needed, which if you take the average cost, is 42k, or still over 500 badges of frost.
Now, if he only had one toon, figure about 6 weeks.
6 badges of frost from the initial 5man quest.
30 badges from weekly raid.
Then another 84 badges from daily heroics.
only 120 badges, not even enough for 6 saronite.
That leaves 15 needed, or about 30-32k gold.
Now add in ICC10 and 25
From 6 weeks, from the 4 weeks at the start, thats 32, then 24 from the next two. 56 badges. Double that for the other, and he gets 112 badges. Only enough for 4.
Now you need 11, or roughly 20-24k gold.
One thing I really hate, is that they've practically made Primordial saronite mandatory for progression, while ensuring its a total f***ing b**ch to obtain, as it isn't a 100% drop from bosses in 25man. I've done my fair share of ICC 25man, and have not seen a single primordial drop at all.
Gold Sellers must really be loving Blizzard right now, because this item has the greatest real-world value attached to it from what I can tell. An insane amount of gold to get one, when compared to any of the recipees, that are faaaaaar inferior to the price to learn and create them. It's a goldseller's wet f***ing dream right there.
