The Queue: Catnap

Welcome back to The Queue, WoW.com's daily Q&A column where the WoW.com team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mike Sacco be your host today.
I am tired, folks. Here is your Queue.
D-Back asked...
"What happened to AAFL? Is Sacco slacking off now due to his new Editor title and new shammy column? I enjoyed the AAFL articles."
Ask a Faction Leader is, for serious, coming back this Tuesday. Vol'Jin will be the titular faction leader. Email your questions to sacco@wow.com, subject line "AAFL".
Luke asked...
"Is there a limit on the number of times a character can be risen from the dead by the Lich King? I ask because of the Blood Prince Council encounter in Icecrown Citadel. Prince Keleseth was already undead when you fought him in Utgarde Keep. So that means he'd already been risen from the dead before.
Seems to me the limit is....until Blizzard has milked the character for all it's worth."
Well, all of the Blood Princes were high/blood elves in their previous lives. There are no "living" San'layn.
Not to mention -- I had this argument with my guild the other night -- we're in the stronghold of a guy whose claim to fame is raising people from the dead. I don't think it breaks from theme to have someone that you've slain before brought back again.
Babaloo asked...
"Why don't we just go back to Stratholme in the CoT and just kill Arthas? I know it'd make some parallel universe or something, but it doesn't make sense in the first place to go back in time to help something happen the way it's meant to happen, which'd mean we would've had to been there in the first place, but how can an event that took place in the past only happen by thing that happened in the future, which creates a paradox?"
The Caverns of Time instances are time "pockets" -- the Bronze Dragonflight has contained those moments in time to prevent them from altering the real timeline, but the effect is only temporary. If the Infinite Dragonflight did manage to fulfill their mission -- killing Arthas, for example -- then the timeline would be forever altered.
As to why we don't kill Arthas, the general idea is that while his actions in Stratholme were repugnant, if he hadn't purged the city, then the plague would've spread through the Eastern Kingdoms much, much faster than it did. It's for much the reason that we protect Medivh in the Black Morass -- if he had never summoned the orcs through the Dark Portal, then the New Horde would never have been formed and the Burning Legion would never have been defeated on Azeroth.

I love these, such great questions
Babaloo Jan 24th 2010 5:27AM
Thanks lol, I went into rambling mode halfway through my question.

I really apoligize for hijacking this spot, but I REALLY wanted for this question to be noticed.
Question: Whenever I load a page on WoW.com, I get the "Done, but with errors on page." message thing in the bottom left of my browser. I believe it is this that prohibits me from using the some features of the site, like the drop-down menus and account management functions. I've been using this site for a year or two now, and I didn't always have this problem. I've recently made my account and was looking to customize it (which I also can't do) and become an avid commenter. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

That picture is very cute in a somewhat creepy kind of way.

Why can't our kitties be so well behaved? They always want to poke the snakes. :P

I have a question for you.
Does your guild know you were a former CM? I would imagine it would be a little awkward. I will understand if no answer is supplied. But just wondered if they knew.
Monkey Jan 23rd 2010 2:03PM
If, by CM you mean a Blizzard Community Manager, then I think I know the answer to this one. Employees of Blizzard aren't allowed to out themselves, so to speak, to anyone who doesn't already know who they are. I would assume that this is also true for former employees.
meatykid Jan 22nd 2010 7:14PM
if you went back to kill arthas in the past, that would eliminate arthas' future.... therefore there would be no reason to go back to kill him... therefore you would get a time paradox
XD
redraga Jan 22nd 2010 7:20PM
Haha good one!
Erzfiend Jan 22nd 2010 7:26PM
Arthas? Arthas!? ARTHAAAAAAAAAAAAAS!?
RogueJedi86 Jan 22nd 2010 7:34PM
*tries to think of a paradox-free way of convincing someone already in the past to kill Arthas*
*head explodes trying to outthink the paradox*
Bubsa Jan 22nd 2010 9:26PM
*Divides by zer....*

The best way to do it is to go back some time prior to the Third War, inform Arthas that a madman with a cursed blade is going to destroy his Kingdom, and convince him that the only way to stop this is for him to go forward in time because he is the only person strong enough to do it.
Then go to the present-day Lich King and inform him that someone is attempting to kill him before he becomes the Lich King in order to alter the timeline of Azeroth, and provide him with the means to go back in time to prevent this because he is the only being strong enough to do it.
...
Oh, you wanted to *prevent* a time paradox? That's boring.
Sehvekah Jan 22nd 2010 11:14PM
People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but *actually* from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint - it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly... time-y wimey... stuff.
Mr Shinra Jan 23rd 2010 2:45AM
This is my [Timey-Wimey Detector]. Goes ding when there's stuff. Also, it can boil an egg at 30 paces. Whether you want it to or not, actually, so I've learned to stay away from hens. It's not pretty when they blow...
jasonkidd1234 Jan 23rd 2010 8:50AM
lmao Erz.
After we kill Deathwing we get to go to Soviet Russian jungles and kill russians, final boss is obv some chick with a scar down her torso, and it's going to be called World of Warcraft: SNAKE EATERS.
onetrueping Jan 23rd 2010 11:24AM
Bah. What you don't realize is that someone ALREADY went back in time and killed Arthas. Just not in YOUR timeline.
Bløød Jan 23rd 2010 6:54PM
lol nice dr who quote Sehvekah

Are mobs tougher to tank now in 3.3? They seem to be harder to position.
