It's a trap! Traps are back in Icecrown Citadel

But wait, there are more of them!
Dinaer at Forever a Noob demonstrates that there are more traps as you progress through the levels of Icecrown Citadel.
- Spirit alarm: Trip these to bring in the big skeletons. Great for reputation. There are four of these in the two chambers leading up to Lord Marrowgar.
- Mist trap: Not exactly a trap per se, but it can catch the unwitting raider off guard if they run into it. Either have a rogue disable it on the side, or activate the teleporter on the other side and beam in. You'll run into it after you've downed the Deathbringer and zone in behind him.
- Geist trap: You'll find these littered in the hallways of the Plagueworks. Have a tank behind the raid to intercept them as they appear.

Moar traps! Love them and people reactions when they die

Peoples reactions*

people's reactions**

*peoples' reactions

The reaction of multiple people... Else: who is "people" and what are their reactions? People's reactions doesn't make sense. Their are multiple people, each of them having reactions, therefore: peoples' reactions.

"Their are multiple people, each of them having reactions, therefore: peoples' reactions." Grammar police failed twice. "There are" not "their" and "people" doesn't have a plural.
Deathology Jan 25th 2010 5:20AM
Cephas' correction is true.
It's "people's reactions". You know "person" is singular form of "people" which is plural? So there is nothing like "peoples" because "people" is already plural. Therefore it's "people's reactions", and this is the end of discussion.
Clydtsdk-Rivendare Jan 25th 2010 6:39AM
"Peoples" without an apostrophe would be "many peoples", as in, many nations and such.

I'm annoyed, as a Rogue I've spent years berating how useless Disarm Traps is as a skill and now they've gone and made it useful.
Next they'll make Sentry Totem shoot lasers.
Sir7 Jan 24th 2010 8:48PM
God yes.
Los Jan 24th 2010 8:26PM
...and Find Treasure will actually find things!
Viper007Bond Jan 24th 2010 8:27PM
I vote they turn the sentry totem into something like the ones in Portal, complete with snarky commentary.
Added bonus: they can take out the geists as they spawn from behind.
Elyxaar Jan 24th 2010 8:39PM
Yeah those cunning geists that yell "Quickly, we'll ambush them from behind!" :D
Eddy Jan 25th 2010 12:58AM
Well, Find Treasure will actually find things for Archaeology so... that's going to be *so* overpowered when everyone's trying to grind that up.
Can 'Eyes of the Beast' get perks, too?

BWL had awesome traps... and if you mis-timed it... 40 men will wipe with you... in slow motion.
nowadays... due to "bring the player not the class"... you can't have traps that awesome... traps had to be "optional"
What WOW needs is:
1. detect traps
2. disarm traps
3. re-arm traps against enemy
4. kite mob into traps
5. instant-kill for $, loot and reputation
How about...
1. detect treasure
2. find chest
3. unlock chest
4. empty chest
5. put bomb in chest
6. place chest in path of patrol
7. intelligent mob will open chest
8. blow up for $, loot and reputation
Broken_toes Jan 25th 2010 4:11AM
Here is how this goes, as a rogue.
You clear mobs, get told to look for traps. You diligently scour the area, taking pains not to get to close to the next pack of mobs.
You mark the position of the trap, advise the tank to LoS pull the spiders cos they're sittin on one.
One of the following will then happen.
1) Tank will run over the trap, after you've clearly stated a safe route for him to go without setting it off.
2) Tank will LoS pull, at which point the huntard sends his pet in and sets off the trap.

You know, after the quest to get the ability to Disarm Traps ICC is the 1st time I've actually had any use of the thing. About damn time.
N-train Jan 24th 2010 8:31PM
I very much enjoy the placement of these, it makes the trash (especially that Marrowgar trash) just a little bit fresh every time I run it.
Will the big sentries pop right in the middle of another fight?
Will we have to scour the room to get them to go off?
How long after they both go off while we're fighting a big pack already will everyone crap their pants and flee back to Fordring, crying like small children and laughing at those who said tinkering the speed rockets on your boots was a bad idea.
