"What's the best tanking shield I can get from running heroics?"
"You'll want to get the Splintered Door of the Citadel from killing Marwyn in regular Halls of Reflection. Have fun farming it, it's only got a 15% drop rate and never seems to come up for tanks that need it."
If someone still needs a decent shield from a 5-man I don't think he or she is ready to tank in Halls of Reflection. I'd say try to get the Crest (epic) from Caverns of Time: The Culling of Stratholme first. THEN try going through the new 5-mans

Even on regular?
If all they need is a shield then I don't see an issue with them tanking (or they could even tag along as dps). It's like the casters who need that stinkin' off-hand ....

I am sad to admit this. It takes a big man (troll) to say, I need that shield. My Skull of Ruin smashed into the face of Deathbringer Saurfang numerous times. I have even led these crazy spider things under Anub’Arak (sp?) whom was standing on some ice. But I still have that shield from my first ever Naxx raid. F*ck my life.

Yes, but if you have one of those, go run NORMAL HoR and get it.

you can tank all the non-heroics in DPS gear even the new ones. Just use dps gear slap on a shield and 1h and good to go. threat through the roof

I'd say you have better chances just buying the Titansteel Shield Wall if you need something for Heroics. But the question asked for the best, and Adam gave him the best.
WTB ilvl 232 tanking shield. ;_;

An iLevel 200 shield is easy enough to get with badges, so it could still be an upgrade for someone who has done plenty of Heroics, just doesn't have the latest and greatest. It's easy enough to miss as I totally skipped the regular versions of the new instances.

Perhaps the person in question has some rocking guild mates that are willing to help him tank through the tougher stuff. When I hit 80 with an alt, I ONLY go for the best stuff available from heroics regardless of my current gear because I'm lucky enough to have some friends that can make it happen.

Sadly your best bet for a 232 shield is http://www.wowhead.com/?item=47910 the Aegis of the Coliseum from Anub'arak 10 ToC. After that the next reasonable upgrade path is the 251 ToGC25 shield that never drops, or the Boreal Guard (Hodir 10 HM).
I'm not sure exactly why but I ran ToC10 every week from when Anub'arak was released to when ICC was- and only got my Aegis of the Coliseum three or four weeks before ICC was released. I was a sad panda.
Random loot is random, I know.

How do you read that and assume that because they're looking for the best 5-man shield available that they don't have a decent one already? You're taking a lot of liberties with a pretty legitimate question.

I think you're pretty wrong here; I've successfully tanked HHoR with my little CoT:S shield which was the only thing I rocked for a while until I got this shield right here. If you're unable to raid or missed out on any Ulduar/TotC drops (damn you Ulduar) then you're going to be like me: a mix of Naxx, Ulduar, and badge gear ranging from iLvl 219 - 245 with a random 264....except for your shield which is a 200.
TLDR version? You can do HHoR and still get an upgrade from HoR.

I'm using this shield and currently tanking ICC25, is it good? lol no. But it's a shield, I just wish I got luckier with shield drops, they never drop for me
