Breakfast Topic: What really happens during maintenance?

Goblins and gnomes are using refitted shredders to sweep the streets and repaint the buildings. Mankrik's wife has stopped playing dead for a little while and is grabbing a bite to eat with her husband. The stormforged dwarves are hard at work forging more drops for the raids that have reset. The streets of Orgrimmar are empty with tumbleweeds blowing down the streets and an old orc in a rocking chair is playing the theme to The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly on an old harmonica (the music was in the tumbleweed's contract).
What do you think the World of Warcraft does while we're temporarily forced offline?

Every character from every race, holds hands and sings around a bonfire, enjoying the peace until we return!
Erzfiend Jan 26th 2010 8:29AM
Something like this. The two factions take advantage of the momentary cease fire to get together and enjoy the finer things in life. Maybe a bit of Dalaran Sharp with some Sun-Touched Reserves?
On a semi-related note, I really wish there was no downtime right now as I am sitting here in jury duty with nothing to do except wait for them to come back up.

If the verdict comes back as "guilty", you gotta yell "OMG PWNED!1!!"
Erzfiend Jan 26th 2010 10:31AM
As an Ace Attorney fan, it is taking all my will power to not stand up and start shouting "OBJECTION!" and pointing at random people.

Wait so you're in jury duty now? Then you wouldn't be able to play the game anyway so downtime shouldn't matter. Unless your sitting in the jury with a laptop farming. That would be pretty awesome actually.
Lawyer:"You're Honor, i request the removal of Juror #8. He is clearly not taking this trial seriously as he has a laptop computer and is playing some kind of video game"
You: "Your honor i'm sorry but i gotta farm Eternal Fire every chance i get. The price on my server for those things is skyrocketed and i need the gold for the saronite for my crafted gear"
Judge:"The juror makes an excellent point. Objection overruled"

Downed Bosses running back to their corpses for a rezz, as well as stopping by at the Bosses Auction Houses to buy their gears coz their gears got looted. Only to get their ass kicked again and the gears looted for the rest of the week, again.

We're so mean!!

3 Words:
'Rate your Pug'
Raid bosses sit around lol'ing at the absolute dross thrown at them that week -
'lol... they had a hunter with spellpower gems'...
'How do they not know by know that green stuff on the floor is bad for them'
'I overheard them talking at the start, their healer said - who is tank, and a ret Paladin answered .. *me*... I thought I was going to start creating phase shifts right there and then!'
Jedoga Shadowseeker: "They must be scared of me as they always go straight to Volajz"
Volajz: "yeah what the hell is that? I turn their very terror on themselves - you just have crappy ads and forced downtime..."
EdwinX Jan 26th 2010 8:47AM
Not to mention all the bosses re-stock their emblems of frost/triumph, except for one :
Triumph Vendor : Hey Eregos, you haven't get your weekly supply of Emblem of Triumph yet
Eregos : Ah I'm still having excess of Emblems I purchased from you 2 months ago. I tried to get rid of them by offering them another extra 2 emblems, some rare gems and a chance to ride one of my blue drakes, AND THEY STILL FREAKING LEFT AFTER ENTERING! SUCH INSOLENCE, SUCH ARROGANCE MUST BE PUNISHED!!!

That's just plain silly. Obviously the bosses aren't 'real', like people. Duh.
No. All the monsters and NPCs are really perfectly normal people wearing costumes, like at disneyland. If you could login during 'maintenance' you'd see a guy in all but the head of an XT suit leaning against the wall of the inn in Goldshire having a cigarette with a couple of similarly decapitated murlocs and bitching about what a diva the guy who wears the Arthas costume has become recently.
Elwoods Jan 26th 2010 9:17AM
Of course the bosses have to get their money from someplace dont they?
Well what do you expect repair costs are (and I'm sure the goblins take a cut) :)

@Ratskinmahoney
"Listen, I know you guys have been dating for a while. Nobody's telling you that you can't. But you have to stop letting it seep into your dialogue. People are starting to get ideas about Thrall and Jaina, and, well, it's creeping the rest of us out."
Baldagrim Jan 26th 2010 8:07AM
I think every NPC wipes their brow and says "Finally, a break!"
Kel'thuzad relaxes his bones, Arthas taps his foot waiting for his chance to kill adventurers, Kil'jaeden and Illidan cry for no one comes around anymore. The denizens of Ulduar and the Coliseum wonder why they're not popular as they were.
Varian and Garrosh check each other's scripts.
Garrosh - "Let me see here...Tremble pathetic humans at the unstoppable might of the Horde!"
*Varian shakes his head.
Varian - "You're still overacting the part. Just relax and watch me...The Alliance will stand against all you have, you brutish orc! See, like that."
Neyssa Jan 26th 2010 8:09AM
Farming of course! Where do you think they get all that money from which drops when you kill them? Playing the AH, keeping up the price of Saronite Ore and Eternal Fire.
themightysven Jan 26th 2010 8:09AM
Epic Dance competition. (the dragons win because no one wants to tell them they lose)
In Mulgore there's a lot of grazing going on.
And I could tell you what happens in Eversong, but that would go far beyond NSFW. (it involves Gnomes, Gruuls, and Rabbits.

Maybell Maclure and Tommy Joe Stonefield finally get to leave their respective quest-giving locations and spend some quality alone time together.

Aw I hope so :) Those crazy kids.
