WoW.com's Weekly Comic: Byron, the Tauren Rogue!
Welcome to another edition of the WoW.com Weekly Comic -- Byron the Tauren Rogue!
On what could only be described as sheer dumb luck, Byron has made it to the outskirts of Stormwind. All he has to do is make a quick detour to fill his bovine tummy. That shouldn't be so hard, right?
I'm also sure you've all noticed the shift in colour, or lack thereof! Time constraints have mandated that I do these in black and white. I've worked hard to make these nice and detailed, so while I know it doesn't make up fully for the lack of colour, but I hope it's somewhat enjoyable!
Check out the full version right here, and tune in next Tuesday morning for a new page! You can also check out all the previous pages in the gallery below.

We can color them in ourselves now!
Erzfiend Jan 26th 2010 11:09AM
Ahaha, now I wish this was posted last night so I could have printed it out and brought some crayons or something to color with while sitting here in jury duty.
Oni Stardust Jan 26th 2010 11:46AM
I was thinking the exact same thing. Looks like I'll be spending some quality time with Photoshop and my tablet tonight. I might even post it if I can manage to not ruin Kelly's art too bad.

Time to dig out my Crayolas!

I vote WoW.com posts the best colored versions on their site! Mine won't be one of them I'm sure :(
Erzfiend Jan 26th 2010 11:08AM
As much as I loved the color of the comic, it's nice to see that the art is still nice to look at. If anything, it does look like it has a higher level of detail than previously. I still wish it was on in color though, it would look even better than it already does, as seeing it like this makes it feel like it's not done yet.
Either way, I'll be tuning in next week to see what happens to our lovable Tauren rogue friend.

Maybe this is "stealthed-rogue-o-vision". :P

Since he wears goggles, I'm hoping we'll eventually see more engineering stuff.

Oh, don't you worry... ;)

I wonder if this trend will continue...
"Due to time constraints I'm going to start doing these with stick figures..."

You're getting a free comic and you're complaining? Despite the fact that the characters themselves are still drawn to a high standard, just not coloured in?
There's no pleasing some people

It may be the time constraints, but I took it as Byron being in stealth mode. I know when you use it in game the colors don't go away--but they do when you use invisibility potions. Maybe since Byron's a tauren, he has to use a lot of those to stay stealthed.
Lemons Jan 26th 2010 11:25AM
Yea, I have nothing against the comic, it was meant as a joke...there's just no pleasing some people! RAAAGGGGEEEE
Kilseker Jan 26th 2010 11:50AM
Well, if time restraints aren't a problem for you, maybe you should just print out the page and go color. Be creative :D

The attitude of "you cannot criticize things which come for free" turns free things into free shit.
Cadychan Jan 26th 2010 12:52PM
It could be in colour if WoW.com lets me hire a colourist...!
*wink wink nudge nudge* :D

This, plus the first comment and it's responses, has me thinking "contest"
Cadychan Jan 26th 2010 9:30PM
Nah, nothing fancy like a contest. :(
Besides, I wouldn't force colour-work on anyone. It's so horribly time-consuming and laborious.... :s

I think the detail really DOES make up for the lack of color. Simply shading the background or using the contrast to draw attention to important visual elements can work well - or every now and then maybe color ONE specific item or action to draw attention to it (ala Sin City).
Regardless, great comic and look forward to future ones!

Bovine tummys, Byron has to fill his bovine tummys. Cows have 4 of them :-)
