Arena points being reimbursed... for now

Crygil's full statement on the reimbursement is as follows:
Rumors place season 8 beginning next week, although there has been no official announcement. Arena season 8 will begin with the release of patch 3.3.2 -- of which we recently discovered translated Korean patch notes.Arena points were wiped during the recent maintenance following the end of the arena season on January 19th. We initially intended to launch the next arena season this week, but it was delayed due to the minor content patch that needs to coincide with the beginning of the season having some last minute issues to resolve.
Due to the delay in the arena season we are in the process of reimbursing arena points to all eligible participants. Characters will be returned to the amount they had on Tuesday, January 26th. All arena points will then be wiped when season 8 begins. We apologize for the confusion this caused and appreciate your understanding

Seems kinda random to me... but I guess if you really want to buy the commendations you can. I for one spent my points before the wipe though, if you're smart you should have too

@elstor A few people had the rating but not the arena points for some gear, and the final days of doing the daily BG's could have gotten them the item before the wipe. Eg. You need 3000 AP's for your new ______, but after the season ended you only had 2900. 4 Days of daily BG quests and you'll have your item.

I had around 75 points before the wipe. I suppose I might as well do a BG daily now so I can get one more commendation to use during my honor blitz on Tuesday.

Maybe while they're at it they can refund all the time I wasted playing 2v2 under the false assumption that I would get a TITLE of some kind.

Every time I see your name, I want to make a joke about lemonade. But I won't. Instead, I'll mention that the whole 2v2 not counting toward the titles and such was pretty heavily covered a while back.

"A while back" being about 3 weeks ago? Because that's when Blizz gave a definitive answer on the issue. Up to that time people were still debating about whether Blizz's first poorly worded post on the issue meant they were just excluding 2s from the gladiator title or all titles. So it was essentially up in the air until about the last second of the season so you couldn't even do anything about it.
So am I QQing a bit? Yes. Do I have a right to QQ? Yes.

You sound like you don't even know what you're talking about, but I'll venture an answer anyways...
It wasn't set in stone...maybe from Blizzard's end of course that's what they meant all along, but from our end it was still murky as to which titles were being removed. If it was perfectly clear to begin with why then did they have to come out with blue post to clarify it?
And if you want to be a jackass about it and tell me to l2read or whatever that's fine, but I'm not the only one on this green earth that was got the impression that only the title "Gladiator" was being removed from 2v2, not every single title.

Someone tells you the truth and you call them a jackass for it? Almost everyone (other than you and a few not so bright others) knew that there were no titles for 2v2. Saying that a Blue being forced to clarify it is proof that you were correct to be confused is wrong. All it shows is that you are no brighter than the dimmest of the WoW forum goers. Not a group of people I'd ever use to support any of my arguments, but you go ahead and feel free.

could a player buy some arena armor right before the patch and then sell it back to the vendor after the reset, and get all those arena points?

Yes. However, you won't be able to buy anything rated because ratings have been reset. And chances are the item you will buy will refund for its current worth, meaning at this point you'll only get honor.
However, I could be totally wrong. What's the point in getting our points back if we can't buy anything due to rating? :(

What I want to know is do (i am guessing it does) your arena points you get from just doing the daily go away too? I figure it does but at the same time makes no sense, people who arena getting them wiped makes sense, but not for the daily's, heck those are only their for to get certain pieces of gear that don't require rating. Having those points with zero rating when you don't arena isn't going to change anything, so why wipe em unless they just can't do it because of wiping the others /shrug

I was wondering: are the arena points I earn worth anything at all? Besides trading for honor (which I can do much better with stone shards, tyvm.) If not, I'd say it was a pretty crappy system.

If you've never done arena and are just getting extra arena points from BG dailies, then nah, they're not worth that much to you. Just a little extra honor every few days.
To folks who actually do arena, though, they are the currency used to buy the most up to date PvP gear based on their arena rating.
Now, once Cataclysm hits, they are supposedly doing rated battlegrounds, and it's expected that those will give you ratings and arena points (might see a name change on the points I would guess) so that the BG crowd can stop always being behind the Arena crowd gear-wise.
