We have our pony: Invincible revealed
Guys? We have our pony!
The Warcraft twitter account just linked to a new page on the official World of Warcraft site regarding Invincible. This stallion served Arthas in life as his mount. Unfortunately, Arthas worked his mount a little too hard and slipped on ice. Arthas had no choice but to give Invincible a merciful death. (You can find more details about the story if you've read Arthas: Rise of the Lich King by Christie Golden.) When Arthas became the Lich King, he visited Invincible's grave and raised him from the dead in order to serve him.
How do you get him?
Oh, it's fairly simple to get. This pony can't get hungry, tired, or feel pain. Great for a Lich King to use when traveling around, right? All you have to do is pry it from Arthas' cold, dead hands. Beat Arthas in Icecrown Citadel on heroic mode, and Invincible will serve you.
But we don't know if everyone in the raid is going to get one (like Ulduar drakes) or if only one mount will drop (akin to killing Sartharion with 3 drakes up or the Mimiron head mount from Yogg-Saron).

you know back in the day non raiders couldnt get epics? True story.
Hivetyrant Jan 27th 2010 4:56PM
@Sky
Those were the days :(
Even in my ZG set I was constantly inspected and commented on.
Now-a-days you can fall asleep on your keyboard and wake up with 999 Triumph badges and T9/10

I also second this "booo". Yet another cool mount that I won't be able to get because I don't have the time to raid. :(

@Hivetyrant
Only if you're a tank or a healer. DPS will only end up with a third of that since they're stuck in the f'ing queue.

Will there be a difference in 10- and 25-man drops, like Sarth 3D? I've always hated that.
Styvorama Jan 27th 2010 6:02PM
Yes, the 25 man version is Invincible and the 10 man version is Semivincible.

This blows away Red Bull by several thousand miles..
WoW population: We want a pony...
GC: it's a work in progress.
*several patches later after Wrath launch*
WoW population: we're still waiting...
GC: Here you go, Arthas' mount, Invincible. Go get him!
WoW population: /faints from the news of epic gift
The end.
Deadly. Off. Topic. Jan 27th 2010 5:07PM
I think they'll faint if it was the size of an actual shetland pony. That would be a good joke on the WoW community.
You get Arthas' mount and for the size of a McDonald Hamburger.

Well, I have this thing for not wanting to ride dead stuff. ;) Plus, given the whole back story with Arthas and this horse, it'd be so creepy to ride him.
So... you all should want me in your raid because I won't roll on the horse. ;-p I kind of hope it's a roll rather than a participat thing. It will make me popular, provided I get my gear in shape by then.
Matthew Rossi Jan 27th 2010 6:58PM
I don't know if I think it's creepy so much as I don't see a horse this loyal letting anyone else ride him. I mean, it came back from DEATH for him.
traptinacivicsi Jan 28th 2010 9:42AM
That's what makes the least sense to me. It's ARTHAS' horse, it it like bonded to HIM
Why the hell it won't be bucking and kicking until we fall off confuses me to no end.
Also, it looks horrible : \

One Bad-ass pony...
Robert Jan 27th 2010 4:07PM
It *could* be a raid-wide drop from heroic Arthas. You will notice that heroic Arthas is NOT a part of the Icecrown Citadel meta required for the drakes.
Of course, it then stands to note that the only things in Ulduar that weren't in the meta were Algalon and Alone in the Dark, which means heroic Arthas is not going to be an easy down.

Quote from worldofwarcraft.com
"In order to attain such a steed, one must conquer Icecrown Citadel and face the Lich King on Heroic difficulty. Perhaps you will be the lucky individual to obtain the most coveted of mounts -- the Invincible Charger. This reward awaits those who are brave enough to tempt fate and face the full wrath of the Lich King!"
The "Lucky Individual" leads me to believe that this mount is like the Sarth 3d mount, where it's guaranteed to drop but only 1 drops.
That said, as long as its a guaranteed drop and not like the Onyxian Mount drop rate, I'm all for this! Can't wait!

Where's my moose, eh?
Dreyja Jan 27th 2010 4:12PM
EPIC MOOSE MOUNT! This Canadian Dwarf WANTS, more than anything. I'd like it even better if it was fueled by eating Forsaken 'locks and rogues. ;-p
Ves Jan 27th 2010 4:36PM
This. I want the Shoveltusk mount I've been waiting over two years for, not something that looks like Arthas decided to try crossbreeding his horse with an Obsidian destroyer.
slythwolf Jan 27th 2010 4:48PM
No, no, no, Ves. Not shoveltusk. MOOSE.
Dreyja Jan 27th 2010 6:09PM
Yes, shoveltusks are just a TEASE. They are wanna-be Moose. Liars and counterfeits! X-p
They are naught but the bastard offspring of a Muskox and a caribou!
