Around Azeroth: Smoke and mirrors
Submitter Meredyth of <The Boisterous Few> on Ravenholdt writes, "Thanks to being surrounded by a deadly cloud at all times, the shadow priest is immune to the deadly mist traps in the upper spire of Icecrown Citadel. She inhales the noxious fumes as if they were a refreshing spritz on a summer's day. The shadow priest is also a notorious liar."
Do you have any unusual, beautiful or interesting World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see them on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word "Azeroth" in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, Val'kyr on mounts, or pictures of the Ninja Turtles in Dalaran. Older screenshots can be found here.

Ah frogger Advanced. It is always funny to see new people charge into the the main area of the citadel only to be broken for their insolence. The Lich King learned a very important lesson from Naxx: Environments tend to be deadlier then the bosses you put in them.

It also 'helps' when the camera is forced to look outside the keep so you are actually seeing the mountains of Icecrown rather than the deadly mist thats right in front of you.
Fletcher Jan 28th 2010 9:48AM
Very true! I hear the Lich King is actually only going to have 1k health. It's just he'll be sitting at the far end of a Heigan-style Safety Dance! :D

This pic is made of WIN. Awesome snapshot!

Since when were the scourge smart enough to build the whole off ICC ? where are all the engineers and math involved?
Panda Jan 28th 2010 10:03AM

That's a very good question. We've seen numerous Scourge biological scientists cooking up abominations and what-have-you, but if you look at any bit of the Scourge's architecture in Icecrown and you'll see some *craaazy* engineering skills ... so who's Arthas' structural engineer?
macster Jan 28th 2010 10:28AM
Contractors.

Just a hint, if you have a rogue in the party- let them go ahead and disarm.
Swear to god I'm sick of folk running through, dying, then having to wait till they're all ressed and buffed.
elboricua1974 Jan 28th 2010 10:52AM
First time we tried that with our Rogue the traps bugged and stayed full on. I had to bubble and run through to activate the teleport on the other side.
Yeng Jan 28th 2010 2:20PM
Yup, I've seen them bug and stay on as well.

Did anyone else think of Symphony X when they read the title?
Also, great screenshot!

"It's all perpetual dreams, this hidden life ain't what it seems
Walking dead we are
Victims of misfortune and lies, and tortured bringers of demise
Circling above like vultures
They reap the harvest that we sew and take, like trusting fools
Promising charade
All days now disappear from weeks to months, from months to years
Forever bound, shackled to the wall
The night falls, I've seen 1000 moons rising in the sky
The night calls, I feel the midnight as it slowly cloaks my eyes
Touched by the kiss of the sunrise
Live with shadows and fears--behind smoke and mirrors
Try to turn back the years--living inside smoke and mirrors
Sacred and serpentine, a hypnotizing twisted theme
Weaves our souls to roar
Like candles in the wind, our echoed cries above the din
Fade into this faceless sculpture
In the wheel of chance and fate, spinning as we watch and wait
A mystery to us all
On the edge of sanity, we tread the seas of destiny
Forever bound, silent voices call
The night falls, I've seen 1000 moons rising in the sky
The night calls, I feel the midnight as it slowly cloaks my eyes
Touched by the kiss of the sunrise
Live with shadows and fears--behind smoke and mirrors
Try to turn back the years--living inside smoke and mirrors
Live with shadows and fears--behind smoke and mirrors
Try to turn back the years--living inside smoke and mirrors
Ohh.....the night calls"

Nice to see I wasn't alone in wondering when Stone Cold and Undertaker might show up.

Since I'm a casual player who has a real life, and as such, will only ever see ICC content in the form of pictures such as the one at the start of this thread, thanks.
Arbitor Jan 28th 2010 1:33PM
These days there is no such thing as "I'm a casual player with a life, so I won't see this endgame dungeon/raid/boss-fight".
You know what we call people who won't see ICC?
People who started playing a week ago.
D4 Jan 28th 2010 2:25PM
Eh, I've been playing for a year and a bit, and I've been at 80 for several months. I'm not sure if I'll ever see ICC. Haven't seen ToC yet.
