The Queue: Missing in action

Alex Ziebart is missing. Okay, probably not missing. Probably knocked out by painkillers. Thus, I'm forced to do The Queue today.
Lolikitty asked:
"Will worgen start at friendly rep with the wolvar?"
Is your dog friends with the local badgers?
Kelieb asked...
"So I was browsing through the model viewer today and noticed a particular model that I have yet to actually see anywhere in the game.... The live model of Terenas Menethil. Now I know there are a lot of models in the data files that never saw the light... But what reason would there be to have the living version of already dead character in the game data? Speculation?"
That model was used in the trailer for Patch 3.3, at the very least.
Becky asked...
"Recently our guild master's wife (the asst. gm) logged on after an absence and told the guild this would be the last time either of them logs on as they have given up WoW for Aion. But neither one of them bothered to transfer power to anyone else in the guild. Do we have any recourse other than gquitting and reforming?"
After 30 days of inactivity by the guild leader, an officer can petition a GM to have guild leadership transferred to them.
Praiseworthy asked...
"Will the Cataclysm have any effect on Northrend, or will it be left alone?"
At BlizzCon, Chris Metzen said that changes to Outland and Northrend after the Cataclysm would be minimal, though he wished they could do more.

Sleeping for 12 hours, waking up to talk with Matt Rossi for 3 hours, then falling back asleep for another 12 hours is... special. "Special."

Answering a question with a question in the column about answering questions with answers, now THAT is special.

Get well soon!
On the other hand, Sacco 'answered' the Wolvar question pretty well :P

Interesting how said missing person was able to comment on this post 5 minutes before it was posted?
Alex Ziebart Jan 30th 2010 9:20AM
In fact, I was the one that pushed the Publish button on it. I woke up about 15 minutes before it was finished and we shared a little laugh.

It takes a brave person to post a Chuck Norris pic in a WOW related blog.

It is weird how the Cataclysm won't affect Northrend, considering it's a part of Azeroth too. the southern coasts of Northrend are far closer to Deathwing's exit point than the far side of Kalimdor(Darkshore), but it's barely being touched. It's like the Cataclysm changes are random and with no sense of logic.

Why bother attacking a place full of undead, when you want to attack the horde / alliance?
(From Mr. Cata's perspective)
Joey2250 Jan 29th 2010 7:21PM
@devilsei I thought the major changes to Azeroth in Cataclysm were due to Deathwing breaking through from the elemental plane, not from him attacking and willfully changing azeroth to his designs/from his attacks. Hence RogueJedi86 has a point.

I think to make sense of that you just have to look at (one of) Blizzard's main reasons for doing Cataclysm: updating the graphics and flow of their game. The "Old World" looks and plays much worse than Northrend. The Cataclysm allows them to bring the Old World up to, and hopefully past, the standards of Northrend.
So, while it doesn't necessarily make sense lore wise, it is basically in line with the goals Blizzard seems to have for the expansion.

I don't think the Maelstrom is his exit point though.
I thought he came up from under MC and tore BRD and BWL apart. Maybe I'm remembering it wrong. Too lazy to look it up.

Joey buddy... I got one question...
What are you smoking, and where can I buy some?
And yeah, Deathwing escaping is a bloody good excuse to really revamp the 1-60 experience, as well as add in everything they've learned from the past two expansions.
Super Guest Man 9000 Jan 29th 2010 7:42PM
Unless theres another side to Azeroth we havn't seen i"m going to assume that the far side of Kalimdor is also east of the eastern coast of the Eastern Kingdoms, that whole round planet thing and all.
RogueJedi86 Jan 29th 2010 7:47PM
His exit point is the area west of Burning Steppes. Which means the west coast of Eastern Kingdoms and the east coast of Kalimdor and the southern coast of Northrend should be directly affected by the Cataclysm, with the areas closest being the most disturbed. Technically that means SW should be torn down in a wreck, but I'll excuse it as Stormwind being an important city and having the protection of mages or something. But the southern coasts of Northrend should be flooded at least, and Strand of the Ancients should be obliterated, since it's off Dragonblight's southern coast.
splodesondeath Jan 29th 2010 8:02PM
Isn't Azeroth circular? So conceivably, depending on its size, they could be rather close.
That doesn't explain the stupid zeppelins and boats taking the long way though...
Jal Jan 29th 2010 9:16PM
Plate tectonics. Due to the way that the plates of Azeroth adjoin each other, and due to the materials of the plates, and age, some of them transfer the damage with a lot less resistance. Look at an earthquake on our planet. Some weaker earthquakes do more damage, and also, sometimes the waves move more in one direction than the other.
Question answered...

@the round world theorists: if Azeroth isn't flat, how come the sun rises and sets at the same time everywhere?
Eternauta Jan 29th 2010 9:42PM
@mel
He ascends from a little zone north of Stormwind, I think it's called "Deathwing Scar" or something like that.
Ironically, Stormwind will remain untouched by the cataclysmic event, while Orgrimmar will be almost destroyed.
This clearly proves that Deathwing (and Blizz) are biased in favor of the Alliance.
I won't miss the Barrens though =)
