Almost everyone I know who has gotten hacked -- also bought gold. Until the penalties for buying gold are more severe, this isn't going to stop.
The ppl I know who have bought gold don't care that they're hurting other players by doing so. The only thing they might care about is a perma-ban. They buy gold, and when they get hacked, have the gall to be shocked/angry about it and about how long it takes to get their stuff back.

Getting hacked from buying gold is pretty severe punishment already.

Valt -- a week or two of lost game time is a pretty severe punishment? The ppl I know personally got all of their gear, bank items etc back and then went right ahead and bought more gold. The annoyance of calling customer support and missing a little game time is hardly punishment at all for these ppl who continue to flaunt the fact that they can break TOS and get away with it.

You can't get hacked from buying gold. That doesn't even make sense. They trade you gold for money you spent in real life. How does any of that translate to you giving up account info?

Magma: one word -- keyloggers. Which are often found on sites of a nefarious nature, gold buying and power-leveling sites included.
