Breakfast Topic: Hi ho Silver, away!

Level restrictions have been changed as well, so you can now explore Azeroth on your discounted mount at a mere level 20! Try and think back to those days...the days of a fresh-faced you, on your main (or whatever), grabbing your first mount. While there are much more impressive creatures to ride nowadays, is there one that you hold close to your heart? Maybe you slogged through battleground after battleground, or ran the same instance/raid any number of times to get that special mount?
My first epic mount will always hold a special place in my heart, although I usually ride my White War Talbuk. One day, I'm aiming to get Anzu the Raven Lord, as I'm sure it'll be totally sweet.
So what about you, dear readers? For whatever purpose--roleplaying, vanity, sentiment--what is your favourite mount, whether you own it or not?

My Onyx Netherdrake will always hold a special place in my heart. I worked quite hard for it, and it was a great reward for saving up the money for epic flying (as if epic flying weren't its own reward). Sometimes I ride it instead of using Swift Flight Form, because it's that awesome.

I feel the same way about my Red Riding Nether Ray (and the others, although the red is my fave).
After busting my buns to get to exalted with the Sha'tari Skyguard, I love riding them. I bought every color. I know, it wasn't as hard to get to Exalted as was Netherwing, but I love 'em.
Almost daily someone is telling me, "Hey bro, cool mount! Where'd you get it?" It still surprises me that there are people playing WoW that don't know about that, being WotLK babies.
I know they're not as pretty as your Netherdrake, Gamer Am I, but I sure love 'em.

I was level 42 when I got my first mount. I never really was good at the WoW economy before that so I never made much money. After a dungeon run with some friends, I went back to Darnassus to see how much more gold I needed. I was 35 short. A level seventy character whispers me and asks me how much I need. I tell him. He opens up a trade window and hands me 100g, three Netherweave Bags, a BoE sword that was great for hunters, and an amazing BoE bow. I was flabbergasted. This was before I knew about the Isle of Free Money. I refused to take all of it, but she wouldn't let me walk away, so I got my mount and when riding around Darnassus. I felt so amazing.

The Zulian Tiger is a lie, just like the cake. :( Never seen it drop even once in all these years.

I had to farm for nearly a year for mine and I've known people who are far less lucky. I swear it's real!

The Zulian tiger is not a lie .... however, once it finds its way into your bag, it will cast a nasty spell on all your other mounts, and it's called the "you'll never see the lignt of day again" spell. Sad, really.

So true! It took me 3 and half months to get mine. Now the Baron's Charger and my Chopper are so jealous of the glorious Swift Zulian Tiger! Rawr!

I'm happy to say, its not a lie... I've been farming it since wotlk came out and last week finally got this baby. Even though I love my Raven Lord, Cringer is now my fave mount which I proudly ride at Dalaran ^^

I am one extremely lucky person when it comes to mounts. My luck streak didn't falter either when I finally got the Zulian Tiger. Here's where it gets ridiculous: after looting my tiger I proceeded to go kill the raptor boss just for the hell of it, and yep, you guessed it! BOTH dropped in one run!!! So keep this in mind when you're trudging through those trolls every three days, you could get as lucky as I did! :D

I always find myself on my zhevra. I just like the way my gnome looks running circles around Ironforge riding it.
Boz Feb 1st 2010 8:55AM
My dwarf always rides a Zhevra, but that will change when I save up enough for a Black War Ram.
Something about a Dwarf on a unicorn feels so...unnatural.
Joel Feb 1st 2010 10:55AM
"Dwarf on a unicorn" just went on my list of phrases I won't google.

@Joel
Oh, come on, don't be a pansy. There's nothing out there that could be *that* bad. Here, I'll prove it, just go to Google and...
OH GOD NO! WHY DID I DO THAT! *MY EYES! THE SAFE SEARCH DOES NOTHING!*

Oddly both my favorite flying and land mount came from TCG. Flying nothing beats my rocket. The birds/dragons with flappy wings and what not get annoying after a while. If I could keep the broom from Hallows end I would...
For ground mount I like my Magic Rooster lol. It's kinda bugged at the moment in that it doesn't scale with your character. Instead you character scales down to the mount size! For a male Tauren Warrior it allows me to ride through doorways and undercity with ease lol.
Bronwyn Feb 1st 2010 9:20AM
Ugh. I want to like the rooster but after seeing my Belf on it on test realms I just couldn't.
Jeremie Feb 1st 2010 8:09AM
For my main (who is a human pally), it has to be the Paladin Charger mount. Got it just shortly before they changed it to where you just learn from trainer. While all my friends just went and bought their epic ground mounts, I ground away to get a truly epic mount. My eagerness towards the end of the questline nearly wiped the group of friends in Dire Maul.
Stan Feb 1st 2010 8:59AM
^ This.
From the first moment I saw this mount as a lowbie pally, I wanted it badly. It was still relatively rare back then on Alliance (BC had just been released) and the quest-line was still a pain. But, I actually managed to save my money prior to the gold rain in Outland and afford the quest (only the mandatory parts, I instanced and mined for all the other materials). A fellow guildy was kind enough to donate a Pristine Black Diamond to my cause. Man, it was just a very good day when I got the charger and it still holds a special digital place in my heart.
Wreckage Feb 1st 2010 10:00AM
Getting the charger back in the day right after it came out.. it was such a pain but i cannot remember wanting a mount more. The dreadsteed on my lock was also special... I know a lot of people used to cry about the pally mount but the quest and the hard work made it a bigger deal than just dropping all the money. My favorite flyer is the skyguard mount because its small so it feels quick.
