WoW Moviewatch: Life of a Vendor
The movie is focused on the vendors in Azeroth, Northrend, and abroad. To quote Galenmereth, "this is a video dedicated to all the vendors who usually only get our coin and not our love." Even ignoring the subject of the video's dedication, Life of a Vendor is shot with a careful, artistic eye. Its stop-motion method is relatively unexplored as a WoW movie technique, and the style serves wonderfully when shot over the shoulder of so many NPCs.
The song is obviously a treat. I enjoyed Lisa Hannigan's work and will probably check out other music by her. If it's as good as I don't know, it will quickly take up residence in my iTunes.
Overall, Life of a Vendor was a great video. Nice job, Galenmereth.
Edit: As pointed out, "time lapse" is probably a better way to describe this technique. Mea culpa.

When I read "Life of a Vendor" I was immediately expecting another WoWCrendor vid, but this was just as good. I liked the song...the simplistic style...5/5 stars!

What a lovely, simple little movie. It's amazing how much mood there was in this. I really liked it. Well done! :)

This was absolutely sublime. Bravo!
The sequences of time-lapse by the flightmaster in dalaran cracked me up. some dude doin backflips on a protodrake. YEP PRETTY MUCH SUMMARIZES DALARAN RIGHT THERE.
:D

really a wonderful vid. i would be interested to know how long each time-lapse shot was. there were people who just sit there motionless for what seems like HOURS. what's the point of that? lol
at one point in the dalaran bank, it seemed like the banker on the left of the screen was bobbing his head in time to the music. :D

That was the one thing that made me consider this a very well done movie - the degree to which the clips were sped up so that the NPCs' idle animations were very carefully timed to the music. Very like a dance indeed...

This song has a Eels-like feel to it.
That's a pretty good thing to sound like. Thumbs up!

personally i like to think they chose to be vendors so they could get the minimum amount social interaction they decided would be acceptable without having to commit any effort and time into genuine relationships

And it's hot too. Pootytang. =) Love you nato.

Personally, I like to think they chose to be vendors so they could get some social interaction without having to commit any effort or time into genuine relationships. They see that the world is just as busy and closed off.
I wonder if they ever reflect on the what-ifs and feel regret?

I couldnt help but keep watching, just to see where the video would take us next; and I dare not skip ahead. :P
I also really liked how the song took precedence over the video - I found myself paying attention to every word, and how it made you reflect on the video. Great work.

I hate to be the lone voice of dissent, but that music makes me want to claw my eyes (ears?) out. It's the kind of light, fluffy and saccharine nonsense that would be perfectly suited for an Apple™ television ad.
Rowan Feb 1st 2010 5:06PM
Well, to each their own, right? I'll admit this kind of music, which would more appropriarly be called folk or indie, isn`t for everyone. However, the tempo and to a lesser extent the lyrics, do lend themselves well to the creators vision - I can`t imagine this video having the same appeal if it was set to Disturbed or Lady Gaga.
Dragonrose Feb 1st 2010 6:18PM
It's a beautiful video, works well with the song and I aplaud the use of actual ingame footage.
That said, it was actually rather boring, just looking at an NPC standing still and Dalaran life go by.

Great vid, the music fits well i think.
I wish to take that opportunity to thank Aimée the donut girl for consistently buying all my grey crap, my trusted bankers who keep all the useless stuff i've collected safe, Hagatha Moorehead who always has full stocks of arcane powder and portal runes.
I also want to thank the dancing waitresses in the Dalaran Horde Inn, they always cheer me up. And thanks to Palja Amboss, you have repaired my equipment hundreds of times, at a fair price.
On a related note, there used to be a guild called Reagents on my server, i thougt that was a great name.

Beautiful in its simplicity. It made me think of one of my favorite plays actually, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead.

That goof on the green proto-drake stole the show.
All the breathing was ridiculously sped up, it looked like Aimee was shaking her bewbs.
