Blood Legion scores world first Lich King kill
About one hour ago, WoW.com was notified that Blood Legion of Illidan-US has scored the world first of 10-man The Fall of the Lich King (as well as The Frozen Throne.) Ten lucky Blood Legion members walk away with the Kingslayer title, and a... statue of Tirion Fordring? Well... okay. Why not? Congratulations, Blood Legion. Good luck on the hard modes next week!
Before everyone jumps to conclusions and bemoans WoW being easy mode, keep in mind this is only the normal mode of the 10-man difficulty. Blood Legion is a high end 25-man guild, so this kill was not what you would call "pure." A kill this quickly doesn't mean the encounter was trivial, because if that were the case we'd have seen many more kills last night. It simply means Blood Legion had an edge, to say the least.

wow so they killed a 10man boss wearing higher teired gear, doesnt seem much like an accomplishment to me
josh_not_jesh Feb 3rd 2010 11:18PM
Okay, so they have the world's first kill of the Lich King, but I still got something that they do not and will never have, and that thing is called a "life."
Hansbo Feb 3rd 2010 3:57PM
Maybe I'm unusually thick today, but I can't for the life of me understand why they were downrated so furiously. All the first guy said are that people are going to complain about WoW being easy, despite the fact that this was countered in the article.
I think it's a good point. People like mindlessly complaining about wow being too easy.

Hansbo: Reading comprehension is a lost art these days. At least I didn't say "First." :D

More details on the statue?
Xetan Feb 3rd 2010 6:32AM
The Statue Replaces one of the ones in dal, and has a plaque which allows you to play the cut scene again.

Sure hope it's not the Antonidas statue. I really liked it, and it's kinda be a weird thing for the citizens of Dalaran to replace a statue of the dead wizard with a paladin well known for triumphing over the dead wizard's murderer.

Looks like the central fountain's place.
Shizukera Feb 3rd 2010 10:18AM
I'm curious as to whether the statue is visible to everyone once someone's killed the Lich King, or if it's phased.
This curiosity is not influenced by my feelings of fangirly joy toward Tirion, not at all!
Cmidrfti Feb 3rd 2010 5:39AM
Gratz to all the guys involved.
Azarizotza Feb 3rd 2010 5:41AM
Damn. I'm on Illidan. Just 2 weeks ago my guild was ahead of Blood Legion in 10 man Progression. I saw them lined up outside the fountain in Dalaran saying "The Lich King is Dead" and I thought they were just joking.
Oh well, at least I can say the world first kill was on my server.
I'm tired of being an ogre and not being able to change my password from the automatically generated one! How do I fix this!?
Bronwyn Feb 3rd 2010 8:34AM
Re: password
Near as I can tell you can't. I don't know why it does this but some people (me included) can't seem to actually get the damned thing to work the way it's supposed to.

^ This!
I've submitted it to WoW.com about half a dozen times using their "Send Feedback" link in the upper-right, but haven't even received so much as an auto-generated "We've received your comments and will be looking into it" email.
Whenever I try to click on the link to change my password or change my picture, it has a link of "wow.com/profile/[profile number]/#" on every link.
So, I guess this means that we'll be ogres forever and have to memorize that automatically generated string of characters that is our "password".

Why must it always be Horde that gets world first?
No wonder saying "For the Alliance!" feels less hardcore than "FOR THE HORDE!"
Hoggersbud Feb 3rd 2010 10:20AM
To change your picture you have to log in separately to that part of the interface, then there's an option to change your picture. It may take a while for it to load a picture after you've uploaded one, but it eventually catches.
I have no idea about changing your password.
Hoggersbud Feb 3rd 2010 10:24AM
And just looked, there is an option to change your password on the same screen as the one where you change your picture.
So you just have to log in properly to your account. Thus all you need is your current random password and click your name to log in, there's an option on that page.
