Ensidia scores world first 25-man Lich King kill [Updated]
Last night was the world first 10-man kill, tonight it's the world first 25-man kill. The infamous Ensidia of Tarren Mill-EU has scored the kill, and there's a news post on their website confirming it. (Ensidia's site seems to have fallen offline, but you can still read their story via Google cache.) They walked away with Glorenzelg, High-Blade of the Silver Hand and Fal'inrush, Defender of Quel'thalas. Well done, crew!
WoW raiding is a bit strange these days, because this kill is actually just the beginning of the road. Now we get to watch the hard modes, which is likely to take quite a bit longer. That's our hope, at least. Will Ensidia walk away with hard mode Lich King as well, or will a group of underdogs come from behind? Will Stars show up in the spotlight again? Only time will tell.
Update: Ensidia's raiders have received a 72-hour ban from the game for "abuse of in-game mechanics or glitches with intent to exploit or cheat in World of Warcraft." A hotfix was applied last night to prevent the use of Saronite Bombs (which Ensidia used) in the encounter and Ensidia's loot and achievements have been removed. So that world first? Still up for grabs.

Congrats to them, and let's hope Blizzard has some more up their sleeve to keep them occupied while the rest of us catch up.

Apparently what blizzard had up their sleeves this night was to ban them for a mechanic every rogue with engineering using, which is using Saronite Bombs every cooldown. Really stupid, and completely unfair of a ban. I always the bombs, if It had been me, I wouldn't have noticed a damn thing until blizzard banned me too.

Congratulations to Ensidia, and a simultaneous hug and slap to the magnificent bastard who walked away with that bow. And if you happen to be survival, I beg you to at least temporarily spec marksmanship and have a go with that thing. My heart needs to know that somewhere in the world, a 949-top-end Chimera Shot at least *happened*.

Congrats to them.

Grats, though I kind of hope that the hard mode first kill is a good while away - this is the Lich King! He should require at least one or two nerfs before he can be killed!
Actually, Blizzard should have made the hard mode unkillable, just for shits and giggles...

They did that, his name is Hogger

"Infamous"?

Their track record of exploiting fights?
Hell, they'd make alts to run Deadmines if they heard about a Van Cleef bug.

We just made a hotfix that disables the siege damage dealt by Saronite Bombs and the Global Thermal Sapper Charge. The siege damage of the bombs was causing the Frozen Throne platform to rebuild, which greatly decreases the difficulty of the encounter.
We'll reenable the siege damage in a later update when the issue with the Frozen Throne is fixed.

And from comparing the images of the US first and the world first from ensidia..it seems quite clear that ensidia took advantage of this bug..

You can tell from Blood Legions kill shot that Ensidia used the exploit.

Pretty much and im sure they probably vidcapped the kill. If they did not use it, they could go ahead and release it to prove that they didnt. If its proved that they did however, I think they should have that world first removed..
ToyChristopher Feb 3rd 2010 9:25PM
I think that is going a bit far. How were they to know that it was considered an exploit? If there world first kill is removed then I think they should also get the chance to kill the lich king again this week.
Corvana Feb 3rd 2010 9:32PM
That's nothing but QQ. They took advantage of the circumstances that were handed to them by Blizzard. It's not as if other guilds didn't have access to the same exploit....

I guess not everyone would know that that platform was supposed to get smaller as the fight progressed, but I would have thought that anyone who was paying attention to datamining blogs and such would have figured that out. I can say with 95% certainty that the guilds that were fighting for first kill were aware of this. When they found out their actions were making the platform larger, I can say with even more certainty that they were aware the encounter wasn't working as intended.
