The Spiderman fiasco drew rumors that Warcraft was coming that much sooner, since Raimi was now free to work on it. However, news appeared yesterday that his next project is The Shadow, so it looks like we're going to have to be patient a little longer. But hey, we're Blizzard fans, right? We can be patient.
And honestly, I'm still not convinced that a live-action Warcraft movie is a good idea. I mean, I like a lot of Raimi's work, and Legendary Pictures has made some great films, but... I dunno. We'll see.

From what I understand, Raimi's availability a bit of a non-issue until they decide on a script.

yeah, it's possible that the wow movie just wasn't ready to go right now, and so another project got moved forward to replace Spiderman, rather than having WoW get pushed out faster.

Yeah, I imagine it will be awhile. Blizz takes awhile with things, but it's good because they like to get it right. No patches and hotfixes with the cinema :)

Side note: I know it'll never happen, but I would love to see them fit in some loot drama in this.

Blizzard makes much more money off of the game than they ever would off of a movie adaptation of it. The profit margin involved for Blizzard in this movie is tiny compared to the profit margin of keeping their game on the cutting edge.

It's not Blizzard that will make the profit so much as Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. Trust me, movie executives everywhere have been wanting to make this deal for a long time. All Blizzard had to do was shop the rights to the film to the highest bidder.

I dont know why. But I have a weird feeling hes going to drop the project and theyll have to find a new director...I hope im wrong. But i dunno. something feels wrong.

I certainly think they could do much better than Raimi. I'd love to see Brian Singer or Guillermo Del Toro take the project on.

Yes you are right, Sony is the doing the reboot, while Marvel itself is releasing 5-6 movies starting in April with IM2 all the way through 2012/13 with the Avengers movie.
And I honestly don't mind waiting for the WC movie, gives Raimi and the crew to fine tune everything.

I know. Like seriously the Shadow only came out in…damn now I feel old. Either way, the Spirit just came out and sucked. Do we really need yet another depression era noir superhero movie? Especially one that will have Raimi’s campy visual approach?
