You might remember Melvenor from his previous work, the Ballad of Matthias Lehner. He's now followed up with the Echoes of Lordaeron, which is (I think) a final homage piece to a roleplay thread than ran all through Wrath of the Lich King. As the story goes, Echoes of Lordaeron tells the tale of two soldiers who were friends before the wars. After the final defeat of Arthas, the two men have a final catharsis, as they both come to grips with what happened in Icecrown.
The thing that really struck me about Echoes of Loraderon wasn't the story or even the voiceovers. What really rocked me about the movie was just how sheer darn beautiful it was. This is one of those movies that felt like wall-to-wall eye candy. I don't know if some of these shots come from in-game cinematics, but if Melvenor created all of this from scratch . . . well, I sure as heck hope he keeps doing it.
Grats to Melvenor on a beautiful piece of work, and here's hoping you keep creating.

I thought showing Undercity how it must have looked prior to the war was unbelievable, at the end, I stared at that hardest of all. I don't even know how Melvenor got that picture... custom edit? Drew it? is there some video I'm not aware of? Hmmm...
This was quite stunning, visually. The simple background music was pleasant and the plot was still quite clear.
I'd comment on the content more, but it's almost impossible to discuss the subject without also revealing spoilers from the final cinematic, specifically on the nature of the Lich King post-Icecrown.
What a beautiful little film. Such a grand story to have been told in such a small space.
It's worth remembering that, in any war, the great names will be remembered, and the battles fought and refought for years or centuries afterward, but those battles were fought by men... and women in many cases... whose names we'll never know, never remember, but who bled and suffered and often died, losing friends and families in the process.
This film *shows* us this, and reminds of those ties. Bravo!
That was nice. I liked the music and lighting, and the only complaint I have is that the voiceover just didn't match up with the characters. The voice definitely seemed too youthful.
This does pose an interesting question, though; with the Scourge now being "controlled" after Arthas' defeat, will places like Corin's Crossing (as shown in the video) be empty and Scourge-less, especially after the Cataclysm? Hmm...
That's a good question. I recall that when Cataclysm starts, the "zone level" of WPL and EPL will be lowered. I believe it's on the Cata official site somewhere. This might reflect a reduced scourge presence?

Wow. That was beautiful.
There's not many machinamas that really leave me pining for a feature length version, but this did.
Gonna subscribe to Melevenor on YouTube methinks.

I think he did something with the faces to blend a human WoW face with a IRL human face.
Worked very well, too.

Yep, alot easier to emphasis with them than those hairlipped inbred ones blizz uses.

Kudos for using the achingly beautiful Storm Peaks music for part of the background. Very lovely piece of machinima.

Absolutely phenomenal; the music was set very appropriately, and the visuals were astounding.
