The yearly holiday
Love Is In the Air went live today, and with it a host of new features -- a new boss in Shadowfang Keep, several revamped achievements, and overall a lot of spit-and-polish on a holiday that
had been extremely frustrating to
many players in 2009. Last year, your ability to get the meta
Fool For Love done was
entirely dependent on dumb luck over a 5-day period. Blizzard's looking to blunt the impact of RNG this time around by extending the holiday and introducing a much less painful means of getting the achievements.
So what are your plans for Love Is In the Air? Does your main already have the meta from last year, or were you among the unlucky souls doomed to keep getting
the same candy drops? Are you planning on hitting the new boss in Shadowfang Keep? And are you, like me, just ecstatic that you don't have to spend days hoping for a
Peddlefeet pet to drop?
Note: A few of us were around as soon as the holiday went live, and
our FAQ on Love Is In the Air and
OverAchiever on the holiday's achievements have now been updated to reflect the 2010 event. They'll be expanded later today with more information on the holiday questline and
the new Shadowfang Keep encounter.

More like a roman candle, am I right?

More like a Tic Tac amirite?

I'm gonna try it if I have the time/motivation. I just got Warcraft III (lol) and I'm into that right now. I also just want to get my lock to 80. And last year I did this achievement on my old account with my girlfriend at the time, so yeah good memories and that's bad.
Basically, QQ. T_T
Still, it's sad that I use WoW to escape from the world, and here I would loved to have used it escape from all the lovey dovey Valentine's Day stuff, but I can't.
Maybe it'll be a good opportunity to do some of the quests and achievements with my new guild so we can all get to know each other better.

You can play WC3 forever, anytime, it wont go anywhere.
This event however, does not last forever and it only once a year.

Ignore the achivements, do my daily heroics on my 2 mains and hopefully run a raid or two in the evenings.

Mostly just going for the achievements as I'm working towards the Violet Proto-Drake. But damn, it'd be nice to get the new Toxic Oozeling pet. I probably won't even be lucky enough to see it drop, though...

Dailies - can't turn down all that extra money and xp.
I thought I could ignore it, but it's impossible. It's everywhere I look around. Every sight and every sound. I don't know if I'm being foolish...

My wife reactivated my account because she wanted us to participate in this holiday together (and i wanted to, too). One of my two mains doesn't have any of the achievements, so it looks like i'll be going for them all this time around. I'm definitely going for the vanity pets more than anything.
Fletcher Feb 7th 2010 9:25AM
Ignore it as best I can. The only drop I want I can't get for the character I want, and all the pink sappiness puts my teeth on edge. Plus Valentine's Day is a manufactured holiday which I choose not to observe IRL.
Volarus at Galakrond Feb 7th 2010 9:51AM
Valentine's Day was around before Chaucer - he speaks of it as an old tradition in The Canterbury Tales. Who "manufactured" it then, the Holy Roman Empire?
Muse Feb 7th 2010 10:32AM
Same here. Avoiding it to the best of my ability.
Although some of that loot looks....

My plans? Finally get my Violet Proto Drake. Love is in the Air and Hallow's End were the only two events I couldn't complete last year (the latter for time reasons, and the former because I HATED it).
Do I have to say how glad I am that the format has changed this year? No, I don't think I do.
RedMosquito Feb 7th 2010 10:08AM
Forgot to add: the Hallow's End that I couldn't complete was the 2008 one, but I finished it in 2009, so Love is in the Air is the only event I still need.
STARF Feb 7th 2010 10:26AM
was there bosses last year for this holiday?
Brouck Feb 7th 2010 11:51AM
No their wasn't no bosses last year......
majikk Feb 7th 2010 10:39AM
I'm gonna milk this holiday for all the money it's worth. If you do your normal dailies while collecting love tokens (the things to make the bracelets, might be love charms idk) you can make a nice chunk of extra gold.
Also I'm gonna do the new bosses as much as I can.

I'm going to be getting the achievement on my second 80, and hopefully getting a Love Rocket. I'm pretty thankful that Blizz changed the event, it was a real pain when I went to go get my first Violet Proto-Drake.
Oni Stardust Feb 7th 2010 10:58AM
Since this is the first holiday to come up since my main hit 80, I'm hoping to to make this the first step on her long, strange trip.
DailyBlink Feb 7th 2010 1:21PM
Good luck. The one holiday you miss one achievement to keep it going, you curse yourself out for weeks.
