Fool for Love just got easier

Love is in the Air on most servers by now, and players should notice a substantial change in the way the event is being run this year. No longer do you have to furtively log on each hour on the hour during the course of the event in the hopes that you'll get that candy bag with that ONE piece of candy you need for the Be Mine! achievement. The candy bag, as well as all other random rewards from previous years are available on vendors in each capital city, and purchased with Love Tokens. How do you get the tokens? Well, you certainly don't have to run around begging people to give you cards and building gifts. This year, the tokens are available through daily quests. Since it's the first day of the event, we may not have seen all of the possible dailies, but here's the rundown on two of them:
Remember the Gifts of Adoration? This year, faction leaders are looking for jewelry. You can turn in a Lovely Charm Bracelet to the faction leader of your choice for a Lovely Card that will give you an hour long buff, and 5 Love Tokens. The method used to obtain these bracelets? Kwee will give you a Lovely Charm Collector's Kit with the following flavor text: "Pliers, bone saw, scalpel and sundry other tools allow for the collection of Lovely Charms from worthwhile enemies. Collect 10 charms to make a bracelet!"
Yes, you read that correctly. You murder beasts and creatures in your level range, and hack Lovely Charms off of their corpses.
I'm thinking I love this event already.
Other ways to obtain Love Tokens include the daily quest "A Perfect Puff of Perfume," which requires you to hose down ten players or NPC's with perfume. Vendors and city guards will work just as well as other players, so don't worry about running out of people to spray. This quest will also earn you 5 tokens.
The changes so far to the event make it much, much simpler to get that coveted Fool For Love meta achievement, and should provide a welcome change to players used to the same old grind from previous years. Check out the gallery below for the complete list of items available on the vendors, and stay tuned for more Love is in the Air info as it comes in!

Unlike the Horseman event where you could stand in Brill and /yell 'DPS LFG HH daily!' to get a group, then roll over there in a few minutes... There's no good place to form a local group for this event. And since there's no way to que for low level content in the Random Dungeon Tool, you're pretty much stuck standing by the meeting stone outside in the PvP wilds hoping someone comes along.
Even brewfest had the central event hub in Org where people would hook up to go take on direbrew; bonus if someone in your group had a mole machine.
I don't think Blizz thought out holiday bosses too well. Especially when you're now faced with the "Hey, you know that awesome game changing utility we introduced a few months ago? Let's completely ignore that and make people do things the old fashioned way" element.
There's no central hub for the Love holiday, which means we can expect everyone lurking around their favorite neutral hub (Dal) and completely flooding trade chat since your average player has developed an immunity to using the LookingForGroup channel.

dude, it's called trade- it's not too hard to say "LFG for annoying holiday boss- heals or tank"

gah.... i felt bad for you, then i remembered I'm alliance and both SFK AND SM suck to get to.

I'm gonna assume you're Horde since you refer to "the central event hub in Org" for brewfest. So, I don't see the difference between hanging out in Org for brewfest and hanging out in UC for this, spamming trade chat (like we did for brewfest, HH, midsummer), and jumping on a bat?

I should've been more clear, the Brewfest event 'hub' was directly outside of Org in Durotar; which meant that everyone was requesting groups in local. Same with people using Brill as the hub during Hallow's Eve (by hub, I refer to the primary place where event dailies and vendors are located). Since there's a 'Love' vendor and daily giver in every major city, there's no central event hub where people gather to do holiday things.
The end result is that everyone sits in one of the cities (usually UC given the proximity), and spams Trade.
I'm sorry, but sifting through trade for LFG requests and people selling stuff is one of my biggest pet peeves about the game. Trade is the new barren's chat. It's full of trolls, for one thing; and since people are using it to find groups (instead of the actual LookingForGroup channel) and hocking their items (instead of the fscking auction house), it scrolls faster than /b/ on party hard day.
Blizzard should just sit in Trade for an hour to see how many people don't/can't/won't use the Raid Browser, often for lack of knowing how deeply it's buried in other menus. Likewise, we have a wonderful and beautiful system for running heroics now but have to put on our special-ed helmets and brave Trade to find groups for holiday bosses. It's bass-ackwards.

Easiest way I've found to farm charms as a healer is to go into CoS (normal) and kill the zombies until you have as many necklaces as you want. You can basically one-shot all of them. Just go around the first wave of elites as they path back and forth.

They should sell one of those boxes as Vanity Pet Cube.

Anyone know how long it'll take me to get all the ach's required for the meta? Given, I'm starting with none of them. Thanks.

Just a heads up - there's 3 daily quests you might get that ask you to hand out "samples" of the Crown Chemical Co.'s products - there's also Bonbon Blitz (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=24636) and A Cloudlet of Classy Cologne (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=24635).
Also, is nobody else sad that you can't buy one of the crates to drop like you can with the Brewfest Pony Keg?

While I got this back last year I can say I like the fact they finally learned from a mistake and did something about it.. Last year was such a pain in the ass

Significantly, the Candy Hearts are tradeable. If you've already got Hot Lips, trade it to someone for that I'm Yours that you still need!
dfwall02453 Feb 7th 2010 9:03PM
Note that quests that require you to go out and take some vehicle and wipe out a ridiculous number of mobs (e.g., [Do Your Worst]) will generate ridiculous numbers of Lovely Charms. You can even get 'em from the bombing quests, so long as what you're bombing is a reasonable kill.
Deadly. Off. Topic. Feb 8th 2010 9:45AM
I am ‘so glad' I got this achievement done last year when it gave you a clear headache over the stupid candy drops. -_-+ (Please note the sarcasm)
