Hey mate, yot a typo in the response to the "How did you end up in England question". You wrote "my fiance wanted to come here to do !his! graduate degree" when I'm pretty sure his fiance is a woman.

I'm guessing that maybe it's not a typo...you know, same sex relationships and all...welcome to the 21st century.

Perhaps he is gay?

That's probably not a typo, since "fiancé" is the masculine form of that word. Just a case of boys marrying boys, I think.

As his actual fiancé (and yes, that's the masculine form, the feminine is fiancée), I can promise you that it is not a typo =p

I would assume, James knows the sex of his fiancé. Sure it may challenge stereotypes, but gay people do get married all the time. Even if it's sanctioned by YOUR church or government.

I, uh, don't think that's a typo.

I think it's a valid point of confusion, even if the OP could have shown more tact. I didn't know about different spellings of fiance before I read the comments, and I didn't know if Britain allowed gay marriage.
Let's chill out about bashing for intolerant bigotry a guy who was probably just confused. Self-righteousness is nobody's friend.

I like that.

Funny how different things can intrigue different people. Maybe it's because I live in Holland, so gay marriages are not something that trigger me, but here is a guy that is a super-atlete from rowing, has Einstein-brain intelligence AND does cosy knitting in the evenings: I'd be his fiancee any day. Pity I am a woman and hence not eligible.

@dame- Just as they say. All the good programming, knitting, rowing men are either married or gay.
Or, you know, both.
