ya, when I first tried wow, I quit at around level 8. It wasn't until maybe 6 months later where I picked the game up again and gave it an honest go.They really need to do more to make the intro levels not only easier, but also more interesting. Spamming 1 button on boars over and over really lowers your expectations of what the rest of the game will be like.

Unreal expectations? That's pretty much what leveling is like. Someone sends you outside of town to gather 6 of this, kill 10 of that, kill Hogger.

My big problem when I first started the game is the difficulty ramped up quite rapidly. I found later that this was a class problem (priest) - in that they really don't give you enough abilities to kill stuff easily until level 30. Other classes had a much easier time leveling at lower levels.This is probably still an issue :/. Does make me wonder if its play tested at all though.Also - why do they make you level in the first place? I've run into many many many players who at level 80 have no idea what they are doing still, and have no understanding at all of game mechanics. If thats the case - why not just make the whole game skillpoint based instead of level based.

I would imagine because that'd take a vast restructuring of the entire game, which would basically mean completely remaking the game - see their new MMO in planning. :P

I agree 100%. The beginning is so boring because you start off with like 2 dumb abilities. It doesn't start getting interesting until you get your first mount.

Which is why, when people see it during the trial, they quit before level 10 and instead go play a *good* MMO instead. I guess you're one of the people who continued because you didn't know it doesn't have to be like that. Try more games... :p

I agree with you. If I were a new player at this moment, and could grind my way to level 10 in one day and then stay stuck on it for 10 days (because I won't spend my money on it if that's all there is so far), I would quit too.Beign a vanilla wow player, I can notice how easy is to level now, but that's me. I have 3 80's, a 65, a 60 and a little lvl 24 hunter. So I'm experienced in grinding and all that there is to level a toon from zero to hero.But for new players, this is BORING. Blizzard spend to much time and resources in the endgame, almost abandoning the the starting game and just giving it a speed bost by giving more experience (being either by plain xp boost/dungeon finder/pvp leveling, etc), wich is not even noticeable by new players. But it's the same old grind 'till your death mechanic. Nothing interesting for new players, nothing new and exciting to keep moving on.I think if Blizz want to increase those numbres, they should increase the level cap for trial accounts. Give them 20 levels, let them see some early dungeons, let their class start to take shape and not just be another hack 'n slash / spell spammer generic class. It's not hard to reach 20 in 10 days, so there's no hurt in doing this I think. I even think, that if a player can't get to level 20 in those 10 days, they'll want to see more.Maybe Cataclysm will change this (I'm almost sure it will), but this could have be done earlier./my2cents

When Cataclysm Beta finally comes out, or during some sort of internal testing, they should get a group of new players, and have them test out the starting zones to see if they're good enough. Just the other day I started a new character to try out the new additions, and sometimes the tips would pop up when I would've already needed to know them. As a paladin, I could see people quitting before level 4, as everything is just autoattack till then.I have high hopes for Cataclysm, and hopefully they'll be able to make the earlier levels as fun as the later ones are.
