Is the Alliance aiming to retake lost lands in Cataclysm?

Crygil says that, actually, they just might:
"Who said that the Alliance wouldn't attempt to reclaim these lands? That is a very dangerous assumption to make, especially if you're of the forsaken persuasion.
The Lich King is a threat to all the inhabitants of Azeroth and, as such, he needs to be put down before territorial disputes can be resolved. Leaving those claims for the future only makes sense; far easier to fight one war at a time. For now, it's better to focus on the task at hand."
Makes sense. So far in Cataclysm reveals we've mostly seen the Horde making new conquests, moving in on Alliance territories, and constructing new strongholds, leaving us to wonder what exactly the Alliance is doing that's taking time away from actually defending their footholds. But we've also barely seen any information about what's happening in zones outside of Kalimdor. With the opening of the Greymane Wall and reemergence of the nation of Gilneas, suddenly the Alliance has a foothold in the Lordaeron subcontinent again -- one that the forsaken seem desperate to reappropriate.
When you take into consideration the Cataclysm zone overhaul map, which shows the Plagueland zones being the recipients of considerable makeovers, it seems that we're likely to see a reclamation of the blighted lands. If they were Alliance territories again, they'd be a fantastic springboard for an Alliance invasion of Tirisfal Glades, with the forsaken stuck between a rock (Gilneas) and a hard place (Lordaeron).
Full disclosure: I play Alliance almost exclusively, and I think this is great. While I don't expect to see an all-out assault on the Undercity, at least at this point in the game's life, it'd be a damn fitting comeuppance to have the openly aggressive and devious forsaken be on the defensive for once. From Crygil's response, we might not be that far off.

About damn time we did more than go "You bastards!" every time the Horde attacks, then do nothing else.
jealouspirate Feb 11th 2010 5:27PM
Seriously.
I am proud to be Alliance and the prospect of taking back some land rebuilding what we've lost is completely awesome. As someone else stated, I'd also like to see Stromgarde retaken, and perhaps Alterac.

The Alliance are the ones who exiled the Forsaken in the first place. You gave Lordaeron to the Horde. We're not giving it back. Power to the Forsaken!

You haven't exactly proven yourselves worthy of being friends, with your whole doomsday plague and random torture of both hostile and allied races.
ciggychan Feb 12th 2010 12:09PM
Forget you man. Death to the Alliance dogs. I serve the dark lady, and I say bring it.
slythwolf Feb 16th 2010 3:34PM
Victory for Sylvanas!
Seriously though? It pisses me the hell off whenever I see human NPCs *or* Alliance players talking about how "we have to take our kingdom back from"...your friends, neighbors and loved ones? Who you don't like anymore because they look different? Not cool.
poggg Feb 26th 2010 7:49PM
Actually, we don't like you anymore because you've tortured members of the Alliance, sometimes without any actual reason, subjected said members to horrific experiments, waged war on us, invented MULTIPLE doomsday plagues and eaten many many gnomes.
The Alliance wasn't exactly kind to the Forsaken - I won't even try to deny that. But you guys didn't exactly try to build bridges.

And here I thought that's what the Alliance was doing in the battle for the Undercity?
Kriegle Feb 11th 2010 5:38PM
The battle for the Undercity, for both Horde and Alliance, is centrally focused on killing the rogue Apothecary that decimated both of their forces at the Wrathgate. At the end, they meet up, Varian and Sylvanas have a big "oh yeah, OH YEAH?!?" moment, and Jaina comes to freeze everyone and port us to our capital cities for a timeout.
So I guess it was a battle to retake the Undercity. For the Horde.
Lissanna Feb 11th 2010 6:13PM
I tried to, but Jaina Proudmoore wouldn't let me...
Ringo Flinthammer Feb 11th 2010 6:52PM
The "rogue Apothecary" who had been working with Sylvanas' blessing all along, in plain sight in both Brill and the Undercity.
He was "rogue" because his allegiance wasn't to her, in the end, not because of what he did.
Hollow Leviathan Feb 11th 2010 7:39PM
He was also rogue because he launched his plague without her blessing for where and when, and without sharing the fruits of his labors with her. Sylvanas's forces are not yet strong enough take on both the Alliance and the rest of the horde, nor was the plague strike well placed, since it only took out 2 small forces instead of...everyone, as intended.
He was working behind her back, even if they had similar goals. He was also kind of a fool.
Terethall Feb 11th 2010 8:44PM
Jaina is worse for the alliance than the Lich King imo.
Sane Feb 12th 2010 3:02AM
At the end of the Battle for Undercity, Varian Wrynn was taking on 4 Warsong Battleguards and Thrall... and Varian was winning. Too bad Jaina had to stop it.
Deathgodryuk Feb 12th 2010 3:15AM
Death to the Scourge, and death to the living!

For the Forsaken!
Deadly. Off. Topic. Feb 11th 2010 5:05PM
I could have sworn there was also mention of the Horde taking over land that belongs to the alliance - possibly Southshore?
Jardal Feb 11th 2010 5:14PM
Actually, we've learned that Southshore is destroyed in a tidal wave. I would assume there isn't much left down there to take over, but it would most likely make Hillsbrad Foothills a horde leveling zone rather than a Horde & Alliance leveling zone.
JuicedCardinal Feb 11th 2010 6:55PM
In addition to providing some solid lore, the destruction of Southshore could also be rooted in Blizzard's attempts to open WoW up to newcomers. Even now, getting to Southshore at the correct level can be kind of a pain, I imagine even more for people who don't know their way around so well (It always seems like there are some skull-level raptors way too close to the road in Arathi).
By making Hillsbrad more Horde-oriented, it makes it easier to direct Alliance low-level characters to the proper zones without risking multiple corpse runs.
Silversol Feb 11th 2010 7:31PM
The trailer implies Ashenvale/Darkshore area to be under heavy conflict possibly favoring horde.
