Zarhym: More content coming before Cataclysm patch

This pretty much dashes any hopes of the expansion being released before midsummer or fall, since they wouldn't be developing any new content otherwise. Zarhym goes on to tell us that ICC will be the last tiered progression raid before Cataclysm. So we probably won't be getting the raids in the Sunwell Plateau, but we may get another Isle of Quel'danas and some more PvP fun as well. With that being said, we do have some additional PvE and PvP content and changes we plan to implement prior to the release of the big Cataclysm patch and subsequent retail release of that third expansion. We'll be discussing these new features in more detail in the coming weeks.
When asked if there was going to be any more tiered or higher level gear, Zarhym sidestepped the issue by admitting he was being ambiguous. So we may have other ways than raids to get better gear after ICC. Or we may not. Still this confirmation of more content before the big pre-expansion patch is news.

I think it's safe to say most of us saw this coming, but it's still exciting to see it confirmed by Blues! :)
Darksky Feb 11th 2010 8:17PM
Excited? I don't see how anybody could be excited by the news that we're likely looking at a Lame Duck expansion for 9 months.
Face it, Arthas will be Lore-dead within a week or two, if not a few days, and that's the ballgame. You want to sit around & joust with Crusaders for 9 months, 'cuz.... I'm not feelin' it, but that's all there is left to do in Northrend once the Big Guy goes down (lorewise, that is). "Scourge Mop-Up" does not sound like my idea of a good time. ;-)
I really, really truly hope that the "PvE content" of which they speak is a lead-in to the events of Cataclysm... a pre-pre-expansion patch, if you will... I think another 2.4-esque patch might just chase off lots of folks. Maybe the beginnings of the renewed conflict between the Alliance and the Horde, something to that effect. Rebuilding back at home leads to border disputes, etc.
Fingers crossed...

@Darksky,
You'll ahve to speak for yourself buddy, because maybe you're super pro and have an awesomesauce guild, but some of us have barely done the first 4 bosses in 10ICC let alone 25 man and the associated achieves.
It may be a while before I kill Arthas, and that doesn't phase me at all, im enjoying the content as it is and don't see myself without a challenge for quite some time.

@Hivetyrant
faze*
Otherwise, it sounds like you're slipping into another reality.
Reps Feb 11th 2010 10:47PM
So content is less fun because somebody who isn't you has already done it?
Mr. Tastix Feb 11th 2010 11:40PM
In any case, there won't be a reason to do Northrend much lore-wise. But in the same regard, Worgen and Goblin Death Knights won't make much sense lore-wise but we're still getting them.
Yeah, I'm a role-player and I also actually enjoy the WoW lore. But I play WoW for fun foremost and that includes gameplay, your lore has nothing on bashing Arthas' skull repeatedly for the next few weeks.

wtb a Mal'Ganis single encounter raid, and more Dragon Aspect Chambers.
mneill Feb 11th 2010 8:46PM
I agree with that, Dragon Aspect Chambers for sure!
Eyu Feb 11th 2010 10:13PM
Aye.
Must smash Mal'Ganis into a pulp.
relmatos Feb 12th 2010 4:57AM
Hopefully It's several 1-boss raids. Malganis and the dragon aspects are good bets.
There could also be one in Grizzly Hills with some werewolves. bloodmoon isle would be a good place to have an underground lab.
Azjol-Nerub still has a lot to offer.
Hopefully, no more troll raids even though Gundrak has been mostly unused.
And, if Blizzard really wants to make my day, bring us a lvl 80 raid in the outlands.
Rowan Feb 11th 2010 8:06PM
Hurray! Can't wait.
I smell Trolls...lots and lots of Trolls.
Tainnym Feb 11th 2010 8:23PM
The WoW official forums are that way....
Oh, you mean Troll characters.
mneill Feb 11th 2010 8:06PM
Gah! it all seems to be taken so long. I'm far from finished with ICC, but the thought of waiting till november for Cataclysm melts my brain.
Rowan Feb 11th 2010 8:12PM
Iknorite?
I was looking forward to a 4 month school break starting in April, filled with Goblin shenanigans...guess not. :(
Though, I've yet to touch ICC (likely won't) but, I have many ach's to obtain over 3-4 characters and this'll give me plenty of time to do so. In addition to leveling my Draenei Paladin to 80; giving me 5 80's to choose from when Cataclysm finally hits. :)
Xavs Feb 11th 2010 8:07PM
Perhaps a fleshing out of Crystalsong?
Or a troll raid in Zul'Drak?
I'm personally hoping for more content of Azjol-Nerub. That place was supposed to be huge, an entire underground zone. At least a tiny bit more, please?
Nick Feb 11th 2010 8:23PM
They said Crystalsong was unusable because of Dalaran, and the lag.
Terethall Feb 11th 2010 8:50PM
A Troll raid? Seriously? Thank God they reproduce so fast, otherwise we'd have killed them all two expansions ago.
Rai Feb 11th 2010 10:39PM
Azjol Nerub would be cool to see expanded but I doubt much more of Anub'arak could be recovered to be resurrected.
andy Feb 16th 2010 7:34AM
AZJOL NERUB! YES PLEASE!
morgangoode Feb 12th 2010 1:02PM
I've wanted that underground azjol nerub zone since they anounced wotlk. it would make a reat isle of queldanas zone, and they could flesh out the old god lost one thing. supposedly the living nerubians are trying to take back their kingdom.
