I'm gonna go out on a limb and say, because it's a beginner's guide, and putting in every kind of situation that is possible for enhancement shamans based on encounters is a bit more than basic training...

I only ask because he brought it up in the second paragraph, so I assumed he would say something about it. I'm definitely a newb when it comes to playing enhance these days, so I'm curious as to what's done differently.

For most trash and AOE encounters, Fire Nova goes way up on the priority list and Flame Shock goes way down. Also replace Lightning Bolt with Chain Lightning.

There's a lot of good stuff to cover when it comes to enhance. For example, Rossi covered the AoE enhancer in an earlier article (and I did too over at bighitbox.com) I'll revisit more more situations farther down the line.
